magic bag of rice

Recommended Posts

my diddy pocket samsung took a sudden dump the other day while out on buakoaw.

fine 1 minute next a white viewfinder screen.

hadn't dropped it but earlier i had taken a couple of shots of the bay while fresh out of the shower with damp/wet hands so i suspected moisture ingress as a possible cause.

tried it overnight in the safe which came with a desiccant pkt but no joy.

so down to friendship for 1 of these @45 bht........

the patient

buried the camera in the bag for 2.5 days and it worked all dried out and back to normal (i had left it in direct sunlight in an earlier attempt to fix it but no result).

magic rice.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

soi7 reckons he has fixed 2 phones belonging to others using this method and at under 50 bht plus a bit of patience it has to be worth a try before introducing the offending product to the nearest bin

Worked on my niece's tablet, left in there for a few days due to the soaking it got.

Had a bit of color leak when she first turned it back on, but corrected itself after a couple minutes.

If you do drop a phone in water get the battery out as quickly as possible. Don't try to blow it dry as you will only push the water in further.

or if at home take out battery and anything else removable and put in airing cupboard for a couple of days - will dry it out very slowly

I know several girls who have dropped their phones down the toilet,

They have the phone in a hip pocket of their shorts and when they go to the toilet and pull down their shorts the phone falls out.

I will know what to do next time.

Go to the toilet with them and carefully pull their shorts down?

My phone dropped in the water, then I read in the internet to put it in the rice, so I put it around 24 hours. But when I try, nothing happen, it stays dead until today.

put it back in the rice and be more patient, took almost 3 days for the camera to react.

Oh...not long enough ? But it's already dead for many days....maybe more than a week now, I don't know if this will work with longer time

Did you cook the rice first?

No, just wash the rice :GoldenSmile1:

That was my first priority, telling everybody at home, my phone was in the rice...watch out...don't cook it
