A morose atmosphere pervaded the soon-to-be opposition Kuomintang’s (KMT) party headquarters on Saturday, as voters dealt the ruling party its most devastating defeat in a national election since 2000 with chairman and presidential candidate Eric Chu resigning as party leader to take responsibility for the outcome.
