China Southern Adds Shanghai – Utapao Service from late-Jan 2016

China Southern Airlines in the second-half of winter 2015/16 season is adding new operation from Shanghai to South East Asia, as the Skyteam member assigns A320 Shanghai Pu Dong – Utapaooperation.

This flight will be served on daily basis, effective 22JAN16.

Those of us coming from the US should keep an eye on this... catch a West Coast flight into Shanghai and then onward to UTP (instead of Tokyo/Seoul/Beijing/Shanghai/Taipei and onward to BKK).

 

FYI it's already up on Google Flights; both coming from LAX and SFO on China Eastern with about a 4 hour layover in PVG and then to UTP on China Southern is $1015 USD, total travel time 22-23 hours.

 

Might be a nice idea to take advantage of China's "72 hour visa-free transit" and do a day or two of sightseeing in Shanghai, seeing as PVG-UTP will be a daily thing?
