Bt20 bn farm-sector loan scheme approved

Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives' board of directors approved the Bt20 billion lending scheme, to support machinery procurements.

Not sure if this is good news or bad news.

As more 'farming technologies' hit the poorer farmers, the average farmer does less and accordingly he/she gets less per Rai.

I know of a few rural farmers who have purchased machinery to find they end up in further debt.

Seems to be the bigger agricultural businesses that benefit.

It's called progress. But the basic farmer Loses. And many gamble and drink more.....
