Agoda pay later any experience?

SLEUTH

Recommended Posts

Booked Areca Lodge for my trip, with a book now pay later option(used Agoda before but never had this option presented before) Rooms are due to be paid by 5th November, just been paid and was trying to clear outstanding bills etc., but can't find a pay now option?

My question is:

Will Agoda use my stored card details and just deduct on the date due. Either way it seems a bit silly not to have an option.

I know it sounds a bit drama queenish, but wouldn't want them to cancel due to non payment because this thicko can't find the right button  :Think1:

Cheers

Hmmm i tought in such cases you go through the normal booking process by providing your CC details then the funds are reserved and will be deducted on the date due??

Yes Agoda use your stored details, It's a bit like the way PayPal does the same thing nowadays with it's buy now pay in 2 weeks option. You get an email saying they are taking the money if I remember correctly.

The added advantage (which I have taken advantage of) is that if you spot  a bargain before payment is due and before the cancellations allowed date  you can just cancel the room no hassle.

Thank's for the reply

That's what I assume , I suppose a due date and a due by date is the difference, just thought it would make sense to have an option of a slightly early settlement.

Thank you , exactly what I wanted to hear and thought

Have you used booking.com before?

They allow you to cancel up to two days before arrive (also good if you find a better deal)

Used them many times, on this occasion though, the advertised room never stipulated pool view, and booking.com were slow to reply.

As a side note some hotels do take pre payment on booking.com(happened to me without warning a few times) a note on their site says some hotels reserve the right etc

I have not used either Agoda or Booking.com for a couple of years now and funnily enough Areca which was my hotel of choice, I was fortunate to find a then new guesthouse close by for a third of the price as my mongering undisciplined life meant I was not using the facilities at Areca and the place I stay now is the best ever for my type of trips.

Agoda will deduct the payment from your CC on the date that they indicated to you, which is approx. a week or less from the check in date. I've never had a problem.

Used it plenty of times. In fact it's quite handy for those times where you want to make a change as if there was no charge up front you can scrap it and start over.

The only minor issue I have had with it was I booked a hotel with the pay later option but I didn't get a voucher before I left for my trip.  I had booked two places and the later one had a pay later option, I got the first one before I left.  Not wanting to deal with any hassles while on vacation I wanted to have the voucher before I left.  I was able to get it from Agoda by calling them and having them charge it before I left.  It is a minor thing but something to be aware of.  Agoda customer service was great about fixing this for me and I have to say overall is pretty fantastic

Every time I've booked with Agoda, I received the hotel voucher in my email, the day that I booked, regardless of whether it was pay now or pay later.  Maybe a glitch in their system with your booking, so something to keep an eye out for... thanks.

To the OP, if you want to pay now, in spite of selecting pay later, give them a call and say you would like to pay for the booking now.  It shouldn't be a problem and as superdaws says, their customer service isn't too bad.

This happened to me maybe two years ago.  I got the confirmation the day I booked but I did not get the voucher.  Only happened that once but when I called them about it they said it was because they hadn't charged my card yet because it was a pay later booking, at least from my recollection.  The person on the phone may just have been covering for a glitch but who knows.  In any event I just try to stay away from pay later just so I don't have to worry about it.

I understand that Agoda and booking.com are owned by the same company,

Used Agoda for years never had a problem with the booking, when you book

some you can cancel some you can not.

I normally use Paypal when booking with Agoda but I've never used the pay after feature. Why would anybody want to do that anyway is beyond me.

The rates were the same and my details weren't finalised as I was going to Rayong for 1 or 2 nights (1 now), with the pay later I was also able to cancel without any penalties until quite late.

Money now taken from my account on the correct days (two seperate bookings) as expected and fully explained on here - many thanks

Wed night eva ...can't wait
