All bars are supposed to have them and I think you have to cover your entrance/ exit only. :Jail1:

according to the translation of the letter issued by the governor of chonburi , all businesses and not only bars in the chonburi province must have cctv coverage both inside and outside there premises.

it states business licences will not be granted to any business who does not comply with this regulation.

i do not know how stringent they will be with this legislation but that was what the letter said.

Mulphy is correct as I understand it.

There is a farang guy set up a "discount CCTV" company to provide the service to bar owners, if I find his link I will post it.

i have installed the cameras , you then need to take pictures of the cameras and the recording device and the monitor and along with your reciept for the installation you go to banglamung licence office.

he will tell you to go to pattaya city hall with a certificate from an architecht to state that your business premises are of a good and safe standard.

then pattaya city council come to see your cameras are actually working before agreeing to grant you a licence.

sounds a bit strange , i know , but this is thailand.

chris , you are absolutely spot on , and this creates another problem in that if the police come to check your licence and you dont have it you will be fined heavily or closed down even though your application is at banglamung offices.

Luckily our license does not expire till December! So we have plenty of time to fit extra cameras and renew the license.

We are still waiting for our music license to arrive. Phoned them about the computer streaming license and they promised two times to e-mail me the info, each time nothing happens.

Anyone know the price, name and where to obtain the other low price license that you need for bars to pay money. Is it City Hall, if so what do I need to take and what do I ask for?

Chris - I could be wrong here but even if I AM its worth you checking to be on the safe side. I have opnly gleaned this from the various newspaper reports whcih I know can be unreliable.

My understanding (from the newspapers) was that you had to get the cctv NOW regardless of when the licence is due and that a failure to do so could/would result in the licence not being granted at application in the future.

I don't mean to scaremonger so perhaps someone could give us a 100% clarification on this.

I'm with Whitespider on this one, I heard that camera's had to be installed by may 1st! Maybe wrong but i'd get them in quick as believe me as all bars I go to including beer bars have already got theirs.

I also heard yesterday although i need to check that all bars had to have INSIDE coverage also, my lawyer told my mate who runs a gogo. (blues factory already has the whole of the inside covered) :D

How many family members do these politicians have to take care of ?

One must surely be in the CCTV buisness. Why must bars do police work ? I am sure that criminals get haircuts, buy gold for Thai girlfriends....they may even get a suit made. Why not have CCTV all over and they can watch us all move to Cambodia.

We ought to start with full time CCTV on the people who passed this foolish law !

Big Brother in Pattaya....what is the world coming to ?

Of course this will increase tourism by another 10 % .

Copied from last Friday's Pattaya Mail:

Ariyawat Nuamsawat

The governor of Chonburi has said there will be no slowdown on tackling crime, and has urged that business people install their own CCTV cameras otherwise they may find permission being withheld for the issuing of their annual licenses on the grounds of non-cooperation.

Governor Pracha Taerat said the first three months of this year had shown satisfactory results in terms of crime suppression in Chonburi Province, the statistics having fallen by 70 percent.

Speaking at Pattaya City Hall on June 6 at a meeting that also included Banglamung District Chief Pratheep Chongsubthum, Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn, and Pol Col Udom Chantapitak, deputy commander of the Provincial Constabulary of Chonburi, Pracha issued policy instructions to the police, military, and civil protection volunteers for the Banglamung, Pattaya, Sattahip and Na Jomtien areas.

Pracha said that during this high season especially, there could be no relaxation of crime suppression measures and those efforts must be maintained and increased. Patrols will operate 24 hours a day and increasingly CCTV must be used as a tool for crime prevention and the detection of criminal activities.

He said that CCTV had been used successfully in high-profile crimes such as the murder of the two Russian women on Jomtien Beach and the Sriracha gold shop robbery, and that CCTV was proving its effectiveness in daily police operations.

Governor Pracha announced that owners and operators of shops, entertainment establishments, offices, schools, hospitals and tourism locations throughout Chonburi Province should install CCTV cameras and deploy 24-hour security guards. In the event of any instances of non-cooperation, operators would not be able to obtain a renewal for their annual license.

Anybody in the CCTV business must be making lots of baht at the moment!!

    • For those that don't know, I did Friday meetings before many years ago,  I feel like we are missing a regular meeting for members,  I am aware guys meet at PA affiliated bars. But I want to start meeting people again, I'm inviting the guys following my YouTube also.

The meetings is a chance to get to meet each other,  I plan to be at every meeting, I also have Dean from Dive bar that has offered to help out with a crawl after.
The meetings will be  Monday  6 pm - 8 pm each week.  (The improvised bar crawl will commence at 8 p.m.  Dean will make his own plans for that.)

Due to low numbers of people in town, I will start the meetings in our bars to help our girls and managers, please check back often incase things are changed.  I will be sharing the love around town later, but Soi 6 is first on my list (including bars that are friendly competition)
If bar owners want us to have a meeting at their bar,  they need to have a minimum of 10 girls.  I'm not dragging people to empty bars for favours.
Please help us invite other members, it takes a while to get momentum.
Monday 6 pm - 8pm  (then bar crawl after)
      21st March - Playpen Soi 6
28th March - Night wish bar Soi 6

      11th April - Repent Soi 6
18th April - where angels play Soi 6

      30th of May - Lust soi 6
