Few Bali gems

Guys as i m now settled in Bali for more than 5 years i thought i could give a few tips on the hotels and areas that stands out;

First of all Bali hotels price range could be compare to the Bkk ones.

1) Cheap hotels

Kuta Area:

Poppies 1& Poppies 2

This area will be reffer as the mix of low budget back packers and young crowd; as its sit meters away from the infamous Legian street full of all the clubs and beer bars and equally close to Kuta beach where you can chill out at sunset with an icy Bintang;

Even if some higher ranked hotels start to open in the area it still mostly packed with dirt cheap hotels starting at merely 200.000Rupiahs which should be around 15$;

This will offer you a basic room with sometimes AC or fan a private bathroom, all those hotels will offer complementary bfast and usually equipped with a swimming pool.

My Tip: The Champlung Mas hotel, can be find on all the bookings web site

For merely 20$ you will get a nice clean room quiete modern wit wifi , flat screen, AC and a nice bathroom with Shower and Bathtub.

Nice swiming pool on the ground floor but i would avoid booking the pool access roomas they are more noisy and you got people keep walking in front of your windows 24/24:

A standard room will be the best choice.

Nice roof top swimming pool with a fairly priced bar and even a small sea view!!

 Alternative : Masa Inn and Ida hotel

For the higher buget and the fancier style Seminyak area is the place to go.

You ll find all the range of hotels even if you will more often find a type of 4 stars kind of hotel.

I would recommend to stay next to the Jalan kayu aya which is nowdays bustling with nice bars and kind of fancy chill out clubs.

IMy Tip : DASH hotel

This is a boutique hotel, nicely designed, the best part of this hotel is the quality of the service which is really outstanding! The rooms are a bit on the small size but still comfy enough, very nice rain shower great wifi.

The location is great allowing you to be near to all what seminyak has to offer , the potato head beach club is exactly across the street, Mint which is bar full of girls and that can get crazy sometimes is at less than 200m;

Alternative : Villas, if you come in numbers, the best deal i seminyak will always be the villas, as you can get a nice 3 bedroom villas with pool and staff in the heart of the action for 200$.

I will post later the south part of Jimbaran and Nusa Dua

I've just booked a trip to Bali staying at the Si Doi Legian. First time in Bali so can i ask what the P4P scene is like. Where can you pick up girls, are most hotels girl friendly and what are the ST/LT prices like? Thanks.

Chris,

The P4P scene in Bali is less in your face than thailand but you will be able to find girls in all the big bars/ clubs of the island.

Next to your hotel there is obviously sky garden which is now the biggest club in Bali, and everynight filled with hookers but not the pretiest. The price going overthere depends of the girl and how you negociate but usually 1 000 000 Rp will get you a girl. Look at the top floor outside area thats where they usually stand.

The crowd is young like 20/25.

You got not too far also 2 places with quiete a good amount of girls... Jenja and La favela, the two are in seminyak. The quality is much higher and you can find easily a few stunners. But the price overthere can go from free if you got a good connection and fun time with the girl (this happen much more often than people think in this 2 bars only) to 2 or even 3 million. There is no fix price in Bali, a bit similar to JKT.

All the hotels overthere are to my knowledge girl friendly.

PS: If you like after hours clubs with the techno and all thats going with you have to try PYRAMID. Virtually all the girls overthere will accept to go with you for 500 000 RPs to 1 million.

Look at the top floor outside area thats where they usually stand.

Try the massage parlours, not all will go to the extra mile but its worth a try, and you can push untill sanur where you got girls Amsterdam style behind glasses.

And of course cannot forgot the karaoke experience, Thats a more local scene but worthy. Must go through the bad karaoke impression. In fact i use it as my own private night club when im with a bunch of specialist friends you got a karaoke "Grahadi Karaoke" that in my view is a great experience. If you are with a bunch of friends you can go there order a room and the the papasan will ask you if you want ladies and bottle. For 3 000 000 you get two bottles and 3 girls that will proceed to an introducing full strip and then game on they will stay with you and whats behind the doors stay behind..... you can bring them back to your room after, but i cannot give you the price as i never did it.

ENjoy

Enjoy

Thanks for the useful post. First time i ever spent a million on a girl. If that equals @ 3000 baht it's towards the top end of girls here.

Rain angelus... Sorry to hear that, but going to bounty hotel is for sure an unlucky decision. I mean if you are not a teenager aussie only here to scream and shout while drinking beers...better to jump of the roof!! I totally agree. Thats why in the report i mentionned 3 hotels which however being in this zone are much more peacfull and civilized.

I hope one day you will give an other chance to bali because it can be a great place...

Bali is hard to get... Need to scratch a bit before finding the good flow

Pabibaga - just one last question if i may. Your (very good) reports seem to suggest that the guys in the bars/clubs are fairly young sub 30 year olds. What's the chances for an old todger of 63? will i still get any offers, although i suspect no freebies.

@ chris. Dont worry so much, the first thing is to avoid legian and kuta where its really exclusively young at night.

Your best spot should be seminyak. For sure the ratio not gonna be like pattaya but every night in a ckub like jenja you will see guys of your age. Maybe not a lot but still exist and totally accepted in the crowd.

I would recomend you the champagne bar to start your night on jl kayu aya. Lot of mix of guys and girls having drinks before clubbing. Its very relaxed no dancing or crazy stuff just drinking cocktails, and you will see quite a lot of guys in their 50,s or 60,s

And if really you still not feel confortable in the crowd, i would recommend you the massage parlour like delta, or the private karaoke like Grahadi, where karaoke is just an excuse to get a room , drinks girks and music.... After its your show!!!

Never forget to rely on your taxi driver... You ahould vet him a bit, and if he s not a shy one, if comfortabke talking if girls, then you will have access to lots of girls.

We call this here the delivery service. You ask for girls and he usually show up an hour or two later with at least 3 girls ro choose from.

So you will have fun for sure, but yes it needs mire work to get laid then in the evil pattaya

Do you have information about Ubud ?

I want to stay on a quiet and cultural place and it should be Ubud in Bali. But the hotel looks like mostly luxury hotel. Do you know the cheapest one ?

And any activity in Ubud, like rent bike etc ?

I am a girl, so I am not looking for a girl  :GoldenSmile1:

I stayed there back in the mid nineties. Even then it was just full of retarded louts - primarily Australian, but plent of Brits and continetal EU's as well.

I was back in Bali a couple of years ago. This time I stayed a bit further north in the Legian and Seminyak areas. Was a lot nicer.

@amyreyna

I would love to give you tips about ubud but sadly it's a place that I really never enjoyed.

I understood that you're looking after a cultural experience and ubud is the worst balinese city to look after authentic and traditional culture. It's all fake, kind of a disneyland of fake artists and writers. The only good side would be to find a hotel for a night or two on a terrace rice paddy,which is a nice experience. But ya the price is on the highside.

Last but not least if I understand you properly, local boys will be virtually all willing to go out with a tourist girl.

Sorry not to be able to help some more

Ubud is not that bad, especially if you stay out of town in the rice paddies where many places include bike with the room. Junungan area is where we stayed. US$33 per night so under 500K IDR.

Deta Junjungan Rice Field Villa

3-star hotel
$33
per night
Address: Petulu, Gianyar Sub-District, Gianyar, Bali 80571, Indonesia

Overlooking lush rice fields, these contemporary Jungle villas are 6 km from both the Goa Gajah Cave and the Ubud Monkey Fore

 One famous thing out there is each sunset with 10s of thousands of birds all return to the trees in the area.

Ashamed of my true nationality at present so I am temporarily flying the flag of the Kiwi Republic (wanted the All Black's flag-Black background with the Silver Fern- but not an option on the board software so Jacinda's Standard will have to do.
