New Year in Khon Kaen

Hi all, We are going to be spending New year in Khon kaen, , Can anyone tell me what to expect, are the bars any busier and do they celebrate new year.

 

My wife tells me that some people celebrate for up to 3 days.

 

Khon Kaen is a favorite place of ours and been there a number of times, hence the reason for new year.

I was there one new year and frankly froze my ass off. Must have been around 14 degrees C with a strong north wind that night.

I once stayed in Khon Kaen over the festive period (long time ago)

 

The night clubs are quite lively on Christmas and New Year (Police allow them to stay open longer) but don't expect to see any of the drunken debauchery that goes on in Pattaya - the scene there is quite tame in comparison.

Lol.......I'm glad someone else found that out...most people just don't believe it can get that cold in KK.

 

When I went there it was even colder than that.....one of the first things I had to do was buy a coat

 

There was frost on the ground by the time I was rolling up to the Hotel in the early hours of the morning.
