I know this has been asked before but is it ok to bring in whey protein powder?

People have said its ok but has anyone actually had their suitcases checked at the airport while they were carrying anything and if so what was the outcome?

Is there a limit to how much you can bring?

Many Thanks

It's no problem. Just make sure they are not opened.

Just noticed that the shops here in pattaya are now selling bottles of protein shakes. Mejii chocolate flavour 26g per bottle, 45 baht from big c, 50 baht from 7/11. Handy to pick up a bottle after the gym & Tastes ok.

Why does it matter is they are opened, if it's in the original packaging there should be no problem ..

You don't think it would raise unnecessary suspicion to the customs officers bringing in a opened container with white powder?

Me no daft, me no silly, me wear condom on my Willy.

So a closed container can't contain narcotics? I hope all the mules are reading this 55

My powders aren't white, chocolate flavoured protein and some Chinese herbs which are in capsules. If it's in a container they could tell just by smelling it, if they want they could swab it and test to make sure it's not narcotics ..

Hell, why not pack the powders it in plastic bags to save space in the bag. Distribute them in handy 40 gram portion packages in the bottom at the bag for maximum efficiency.

They swab it and off you go. Whats the problem? No need to hide what is perfectly legal.

I took a tiny clear bottle of talc in my hand luggage through a uk airport. X-ray guy spotted it ....swab test ...2 mins later i was off.

In december, there is a good chance i will take a kilo of white powder to thailand. Vanilla whey protein.

I've brought protein powders to Thailand 30+ times, never any problems. But when I'm packing my containers in my bag it's a no-brainer for me to chose the ones that aren't already opened.

Hmmm.... I didn't bring anything on my first trip as it was short enough that I settled on just skipping them while I was there.

My next trip is going be be long enough that I'd want my supplements. I was assuming that I'd just pick something reasonable up in Pat. Is the quality so bad that it justifies taking your own?

I'm not really looking for anything too major, just the standard vitamin supplements and protien powder. Can anyone recommend any decent local brands & point me in the direction of the places they're available? I'll be staying in LK Metro.

There are no good local brands. There is a supplement shop on Soi Buakhao if you take a right coming from LK Metro. I think it's called Pro Nutrition. The cheapest place I've seen is Universe Gym up on Sukhumvit. They both sell ON and Dymatize.

Thanks. I might need to consider taking at least a supply of the basics.

I really don't fancy packing whole jars of my regular supplements - many of which come in glass jars. Taking this along would pretty much rule out any hope repeating my last visit, where travelled with just carry on luggage.

Do you guys declare it, or just walk straight through

So what about "legal highs" from the UK, are they legal here ?

legal in thailand? no idea mate

I probably wouldn't want to take the chance though. But i guess they would need to search your stuff and identify what it was. Also remember, if you're travelling through the middle east and they search your stuff for whatever reason ....probably even worse than thailand. How many lashes can you handle? lol

All depends on how pretty and dirty she is lol.

Its a good question though imo. If they can't identify it how can they determine if its legal or not ?

Does it ask on the form to declare supplements?

Why bring? Easy to buy here. Two shops next to Tony's gym on 3rd road sell everything you could possibly want.
