Vaccinations - Yellow Fever

Timetester

Recommended Posts

After my recent trip, I decided to get myself tested due to two moments of weakness where I went in uncovered.

Just visited my local GUM clinic and they did the whole lot - bloods, urine, swabs etc. and when I told them I go with sex workers they offered a free Hep B vaccination so yes - no problem I had my first injection there and then. One next Monday and another after that. Go NHS.

So anyway - I happen to be going to Kenya in a few weeks time and when I get back I will be going back to Thailand after about 12 days.

So apparently, Thai immigration may prevent me from entering the country if they see the Kenyan stamp in my passport (and Kenyan immigration may have the same issue because I have a recent Thai stamp in my passport) so I don't have much choice - appointment made today with my local clinic in Peterborough for the Yellow Fever vaccination - £58.

I'm going to have more holes in me than a sieve by the end of all this!!

Just one of the costs of enjoying those lovely Thai beauties I guess.

:)

I see no reason for problem for entry into Thailand should be an issue stamps in his passport from Kenya, or yellow fever vaccination.

I think you are most likely right - however, I remember reading somewhere that officially there should be 10 days  gap between leaving a Yellow Fever region (like Kenya officially is) and entering Thailand, I think I got this info from Expedia. However I have also read that they could potentially deny entry even if they spot a stamp from a yellow fever region regardless of when. Anyway - thought it best to be safe than sorry :)

never had a problem, been traveling to Thailand from Africa every ten weeks for the past fourteen years just call into the medical centre before immigration if your not sure they will set you right.

I am sure it would not have been a problem. However I could not risk ruining my upcoming trip. I called the Thai consulate earlier and they confirmed that travelling from Nairobi so close to travelling to Bangkok will require a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate.

Given the reports of stricter immigration at the moment maybe it's good to have the t's crossed and i's dotted in any case.

So I went and had the jab done. Certificate nicely tucked away with my passport - another job done.

I had to have the yellow fever jab when i went to Kenya and you can be asked for the certificate if you have been to a country (which is normally an area in a country) that has yellow fever but your certificate lasts 10 years so it is a good value £58 to ensure you have no issues going to Thailand or other country's. imho

BTW: It was very wise to have the Hep B vaccination along with the normal TB, tetanus etc, I keep all mine up to date as it is better to be safe than sorry.

58 quid , count yourself lucky , i went for a trip to India this year so last year over the course of 6months i did the whole barrage , Hep A + B , Diptheria , Rabies , Japanese enthilitis , Polio ,Thypoid ,   the fun cost me over 700 € and next year i am going to South America and will also need a Yellow Fever shot

"And were you pleased?" they asked Helen in Hell.

"Pleased?" answered she,when all Troy's towers fell;

And dead were Priam´s sons, and lost his throne?

And such a war was fought as none had known;

And even the Gods took part; and all because

Of me alone! Pleased?

I should say I was!"

I just phoned about my vaccines today and they gave me this form to fill out, I only got hep A last year so should be fine again I suppose. It says hep B is 3 different injections! that's a bit over the top.

Here is a tip for all people here:

Mahidol University Hospital in Bangkok has an excellent vaccination clinic at prices equal for all (Thai and Farang) and English language service in a very modern setting.

You can walk there from Victory Monument BTS and make appointments online in advance.

Web link here: http://www.thaitravelclinic.com/

They charge $40 for YF and they have the new chimeric Japanese Encephalitis one shot vaccine for $16.

I had to go there for part of a series of post exposure rabies treatment.

It's four altogether...

I just had the second one done last monday - third one is on 12th.

PLUS

In six months time I have to go for a blood test, i think to see the effectiveness of the vaccination - she explained but I cant remember exactly what she said.

Then in 12 months time there will be a forth and final jab.

They said that if I fuck or get BBBJ's from many different partners then HepB jabs are very advisable.

By the way - it was very wise to go to the GUM following my last trip (August). They actually found I had Chlamydia even though I had no symptoms - got told yesterday.

Gotta go back tomorrow to get me some antibiotics.

So as a public service, I would advise anybody who fucks these beauties in Patts to get tested a month or two after getting back even if they don't have symptoms, luckily I did.
