Holiday inn? is it guest friendly?

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled to come to LOS mid October and had planned to stay at the whitehouse Condhotel but I have just been granted a substantial number of Points to my IHG membership (Holiday Inn). Does anyone know if it is guest friendly or not and if so is the location convenient as it looks a little out of the way on google maps?

I do not know about HI Pattaya, but HI Phuket is definitely unfriendly.

Rather than getting second hand indo here, I would send them an email and ask.
If the answer is to your liking, print the response and bring it.

hotel Chains like HI will normally charge for any extra guest that are not registered.. 1000 baht or sometihng .... they are mainly family hotes and dont particular want you going through the recptionn and foyer with a bunch of hookers LOL ... in front of shall we say family type guests  or cause if you have a regular girl then register her

stick with hotels you find on here or get a condo save your HI points for another destinations.

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn in Pattaya MULTIPLE times -- 100% guest friendly EVERY time that I have been there.  Had 2 girls a couple of times and wasn't charged then either.

They take ID and it's a bit of pain in the ass to get it back (have to go to security desk around side of building, at least in the new wing).

What level are you with IHG Rewards?  If you're not Platinum, consider getting the Chase IHG credit card.  It nets you Platinum status, which could = an upgraded room and will get you lounge access, so free breakfast everyday and cocktails/snacks in the evening (and the food is pretty good!).  I ended up eating in the lounge every morning and would grab a snack that often turned into dinner many of the nights.  I was upgraded to a room on the same floor as the lounge so it was beyond easy to access.

In my opinion, the Pattaya Holiday Inn isn't a great "value" on points, at 25,000/night.  Back when it was 15,000, it was.  Realistically, it should be about 20,000 points/night.  IHG points equate to about .7 cents each according to bloggers, so 25,000 points equates to $175/night.  BUT rooms booked on points are fully refundable, AND I think that Chase card gets me 10% of redeemed points back.

I'll be back at Holiday Inn in November for 4 nights, then will move to Hilton for 6 (5 nights on points and 1 cheap advance-purchase night).  For now, I have booked it at a refundable rate, but --as the date draws near -- I may change to points OR see if a non-refundable rate is appealing.

Feel free to PM me -- would be happy to see if I can find some photos to send you or to walk through more of these issues in greater detail.  In case it isn't obvious, I can ramble on for days about the Holiday Inn, IHG points, etc.

EDIT:

BTW, Hilton was girl friendly, too, in my personal experience (not secondhand info or an email from hotel management - had a girl 5 nights in a row and didn't pay a single baht to the hotel for it)

Also, Sheraton -- which is a beautiful resort in Pratumnak -- and Marriott were girl friendly EVERY time I have stayed at them.

All three of these may be lumped in with the upscale "family" hotels, but Pattaya is Pattaya.

Thanks for your help with the big chain hotels.

I'm all set with my upcoming winter trip but I have a summer trip planned too and I may use my accumulated points to book my stay but...

Is there (to your knowledge) a decent chain hotel in a great location in Pattaya that is a good VALUE when using points?

I am looking at all of these non-chain 2000 baht options that seem nice but if I'm willing to spend almost twice as much I can use points. I'd rather save those points for expensive Western hotel properties that would otherwise run me north of $150 per night.

Depends on how many points you have -- I'm pretty sure the Hilton, Sheraton and Marriott all offer a "stay 4 night on points, get 5th night free" deal.

Although it's location is INCREDIBLY inconvenient, the Sheraton is a pretty damn good deal for 5 nights, which costs 40,000 points (8,000 per night).

Starwood points are considered far more "valuable" that Marriott or Hilton, though, so it may not work out to such a great deal overall.  Also, tjose 40,000 SWP points could easily become 50,000 AA miles, so that makes them a pricey option.

Marriott is 25,000 points per night, but "5th night free" takes it down to 100,000 points for 5 nights.  Since nights generally go for over $150, not an incredibly bad deal.  I think it has the best physical location in Pattaya.

Hilton is 40,000 points in low season, 50,000 per night in high season.  Just stayed there and dropped 200,000 points for 5 nights.  not a great "value" but Hilton points are pretty chap to come by and the hotel is in a fantastic location.

so i have looked at this hotel and it seems decent if not a little pricey.  google maps says its only 3km from HI to tony's [which covers basically the whole strip, correct?  does that sound about right?  that is less than 2 miles worth of ground.  thats nothing. so as far as location that is not bad.

now as far as being "girl friendly", is there a vibe?  as a "new guy", will i be way out of place with the hotass hooker if i go to the pool with her- lol?  i can probably pass for 35- give or take.

What a silly reply. If someone here has an experience to share, it's not second hand.

at the very least you need a beer."

I burned SPG points by utilize Night & Flights deal (70,000 for 5 free nights at Cat 4 property, which I decide to go with Sheraton Pattaya + 50,000 to airlines).  Just another option for someone with many SPG points, and highly recommend anyone to burn points before inevitable Marriott merger devaluation
