Explosion in Bangkok.

Just saw on norwegian newspaper,that here have been an explosion( a bomb!) in Bangkok.

Atleast 12 dead.They come back with more news on the matter later.

BBC news says the bomb exploded in the business district of Bangkok...but nothing about who might be behind it or any motive.

Just seen 'live' news feeds of motorbikes scattered in the street.

That's not the powerful rich who ride them....that ordinary working folk who've been targeted.

 

I couldn't care if the ruling elite got slaughtered ... but the avarage poor Thai?

It was at the Erawan Shrine in Chidlom. Count at this time is 12 dead and multiple injuries They have found two more devices and made them safe. The news was delayed as they expected more devices.

It is all speculation at this time, but the selection of the Erawan Shrine might be meaningful.

 

The Erawan Shrine is located at the Ratchaprasong Intersection, which was a strategic piece of real estate in the Bangkok riots of 2010.

 

Whoever claims responsibility, or is identified as responsible for the blast will be interesting.

I work at CentralWorld which is just across the road from where the bomb went off.  Luckily I was off work today, but my colleagues heard the blast and were caught up in its aftermath.  Sounds like a terrible scene with bodies and body parts all over the place.  Some reports of 20+ killed, including tourists, but who knows what is accurate.

 

Very sad.
