I had the Steak Bordelaise today for lunch. It was very good, as usual for this place.

Had my first visit this trip to Patrick’s last night, so the first time since pre-Covid.

The restaurant has been remodelled slightly but it’s basically the same layout and seating. It was very busy at 7.30pm. I got the last table inside and there was only one empty table outside. People came and went during my time there but it was basically full until my last 10 minutes or so when 3 or 4 tables emptied.

Instead of the prawn crackers they used to provide you now get a warm bread roll with butter.

The waitress tried to tell me how to order my steak which, frankly, annoyed me, especially as she was quite stubborn about it. I insisted on my usual Well Done, which was just as well as when the steak came it was medium-well at best whatever the little flag says!

I had the Bruschetta to start which was very nice. Ate one before I took the pic!

I had the Australian rib-eye with steamed veg and Bearnaise sauce.

Enjoyed it, though struggled to finish. There was a chunk of fat and gristle in the steak but it was more than enough meat for me anyway.

I had a bottle of water and a glass of the House Merlot which was good (Chilean).

I finished off with my usual dessert at Patrick’s:

Total bill was 1609 baht.

I’m going to attempt to add this review now but I am far from sober…

Four of us went to Patrick’s tonight for my birthday dinner. 5 years since my last birthday dinner there.

The new Maitre d’ was obsequious and rather annoying.

The restaurant was far from full but, I guess, busy enough for low season.

I had the Caprese Salad as a starter, 2 had the mushroom soup and one had a mixed salad.

Bread rolls and butter provided.

Two of us drink wine and I chose the bottle:

Excellent choice, even if I say so myself. It really was very good indeed. In fact, I’ve already ordered a case to be delivered to my condo.

I ordered the Black Angus Rib-eye with a side of vegetables and Bearnaise Sauce. Two had a pork chop and one had the tenderloin.

We were all extremely happy with our meals. Excellent as usual.

None of us could manage a dessert.

The total bill was just over 4800 baht for the best meal any of us have had this trip.

You have my UTMOST respect for properly using "obsequious" when drunk!

Would love to try those burgers. Is the 6 pm thing only about the price, I wonder. Or is it availability? Guess I should go find out.

I think it is a price incentive to get people to come in and try the place when it is slower. I think he wants to focus on the pricier steaks after 6 p.m. when it is busier.

They’re not on the normal menus as far as I know.

I have a similar issue with the Akvavit lunch specials. I just don’t tend to eat between 1 and 4.

That looks very good and very interesting at the same time...

I did a lot of experimenting with burgers back home with a lot of different cheeses. Brie gave a smoothy silky flavor and it was good. Danish Blue Cheese is also interesting as is has a very distinctive sharpness that just works on a burger. But whatever burger I made, it was always with bacon...  Never even thought of using Chorizo instead of bacon but I am going to give this combination a try this weekend and although I know this is a monthly special I hope Patrick will still be willing to make this when I'm back in December.

Wonder if these are available for take away or just dine-in only ? Would like to try the cheese steak sandwich but don't want to sit in the restaurant by myself.

The website says that takeaway and delivery is available but I can’t find any details.

Just checked with Patrick's via their LINE. You can call to order take away (0635963500) and pick up yourself, but they do not deliver. Steaks are not available for take away for quality reasons.

Anyone tried their brunch buffet? The price is pretty good I think for this caliber of restaurant.

Correct, there were ten-or-so people in-the-queue at mid-day last Saturday, the first ribs went in seconds, but a new piled-up dish-full arrived immediately.  I go mainly for the beef-stroganov & rice, which is still as-good as (when open) during lock-down !   😎
