Recommend checking out youtube videos by Stuart Jay Raj...he is a so called polyglot and can speak many languages fluently. His videos on Thai are quite enlightening. He explains the reasons for things....a lot of references to Sankrit as the language of Thai origin. I attached one of his videos that I edited down to the key part.
