10 days remaining for my second trip and I get it bad. Real bad.

Have visited Dr Pann up on Pattaya Klang. She says two to four weeks.

Locals think I am possessed by a demon.

Shit happens I guess. [emoji4]

Get yourself checked for STD's.

http://www.webmd.com/eye-health/understanding-conjunctivitis-basics?page=2

Some sexually transmitted diseases(STD) can cause conjunctivitis. TheSTD gonorrhea can cause a rare but dangerous form of bacterial conjunctivitis. It can lead to vision loss if left untreated. Another STD,chlamydia, can cause conjunctivitis in adults and also in newborns when the disease is passed to the child from its mother during delivery.

LoL. Thanks for the good news.

But yeah. I guess it would not hurt.

Eyes are a mess .

I got "pink eye" in Pattaya once.  I ended up going to the Eye Hospital in BKK.

After a quick sign in procedure and about a 45-60 min wait and exam, the doctors gave me the proper diagnosis, and about 5 minutes and 500 baht later, I was out of there.

he symptoms were gone in a few hours but I still had it for about 5-7 days.  However by then I had already flown home.

I highly recommend this location for any eye problems in or around BKK.

What treatment did you get?

I got a jab in the arse plus two lots of eye drops some pills to be taken once a day and some ointment for the eyes to be applied at night.

Did you ask, or have the paperwork that tells you what meds they gave you?

Jab in the arse sounds like they gave you a shot of antibiotic, in which case they probably gave you the appropriate treatment on the chance the pink eye is caused by an STD.

I only got some eye drops.  They did a very thorough exam and told me it was 100% conjunctivitis (pink eye).

Its been almost a week now and only now am I seeing a reduction (albeit slight) in the redness and swelling. I ventured out last night for the first time since Monday. Staying in each night however necessary has been doing my head in.

I have a week left here. Fingers crossed I will be able to squeeze in a day or two 'activities' before I head to the airport.

I got no paperwork as such. I am due back at the clinic in a day or so. I will ensure that I get something then.

Viral conjunctivitis and clymida in the eye have very similar symptoms. The standard test is an eye swab and of to the lab. Most clinics around here simply treat either the same way with a big dose of Zithromax and some drops or ointment. Very very common here. Looks and feels like the eye of Sauron. Left untreated and you can get major plaque buildup on the cornea leading to vision impairment that can take up to a year to clear up.

Last trip got it real bad.

Ended up in the eye specialist here is Victoria.

Went to an ophthalmologist first,he prescribed a steroid that didn't work.

Went to an eye specialist and he threw the steroid in the bin and got me some other drops. Will try and find them.

Third time I have gotten it in 5 years in Thailand.

  • 3 weeks later...

The reality is that the tropical environment is a perfect breeding ground for 'contact' infections. Couple this with a ton of social contact activities and a general lack of washing facilities in most of the places we frequent, and it's no surprise that infection transmission is so common.

The best way to avoid conjunctivitis is to keep your hands away from your face, and wash your hands regularly. I know that there's a fair amount of posting about carrying hand sanitizer as part of our daily carry, but I'm willing to bet that most guys don't follow this practice.

When you hit the head, a quick squirt of "hand bac" should be a standard practice. After having your hands wonder in the clubs, or even more importantly, when your hands find their way into some of the more 'entertaining' places available in the bars, one needs to be sure to keep your hands away from your face and eyes until you get a chance to clean your hands. While this may sound terribly AR to some guys, I can assure you that it's really not that tough to follow these simple rules. This is especially true for you beer drinkers, who no doubt are making regular visits to the loo. After all, you don't buy beer; you only rent it.

Many eye infections are coursed by using contaminated towels.

In Pattaya if your partner uses the same towels ( to wipe her wet pussy in the shower after fucking with you) It a done deal.

Don't keep your towels in the bathroom when you have a visitor and give her one to use and put it aside when she has gone.
