Taking action on the national crisis of baldness, government pharmacists will introduce a treatment to the market for as little as THB10.

According to the Government Pharmaceutical Organization, it will bring to the market "GPO-Finax 1," a treatment based on Finasteride, which is commonly used to treat another male malady: the enlarged prostate. It’s also used for transsexual hormone therapy and apparently encourages hair growth as the active ingredient in treatments such as Propecia.

 

"This pill is another hope of bald people," organization Director Nopporn Cheunklim said. "We're producing and packaging the pills. They are expected to sold within this year."

 

The treatment costs THB10 per pill and comes in 30 tablets per box. They will be sold at local pharmacies, Manager reported.

Being bald has it's advantages.  I haven't been to a barber or bought shampoo for over 20 years... i can only guess how much $$ I've saved for not giving a fuck.

Did a large Pharma company (Merk, for example) conduct the R & D.

 

Based on Finasteride? Finasteride is on the market. I've taken it since 1998.

Myster, the Thai GPO has been manufacturing generic versions of popular or expensive drugs for decades now. This latest product is no different. A few days ago, I bought a bottle of 100 paracetamol tablets of 500 mg each for ฿29 from a GPO retail shoppe, versus paying about ฿10 for ten tabs of Tylenol.

I use the GPO shoppe at the base of the elevators on the ground floor of the Bangkok Government Complex, just under the Immigration office off Chang Wattana Road.
