Milk the real brain food

A recent report says that organic and UHT milk contain a third less iodine than standard milk, no biggie you may think.

However milk is the nations primary source of iodine and Iodine is known to be important for the healthy brain development of babies, especially in the early stages of pregnancy.and a lack of iodine during pregnancy causes babies to be born with lower IQ's.

 

70 percent of teenage girls are deficient in iodine.

 

Milk used to be free for children in schools but has not been given in schools since "thatcher the milk snatcher" was in power.

A whole generation of kids grew up never learning to develop / acquire a taste for milk (unhealthy fizzy drinks instead) and as a result did not drink it later in life during pregnancy.

Ironic that whilst the Tories blame the schools and parents of kids for the poor academic results of today s youth they fail to realize it was probably in large part their milk snatching policy that was to blame for the dumbing down of our current society.

Iodized salt doesn't seem to be as popular in the UK as other countries. The US has been adding iodine to its table salt (well, Morton, the biggest manufacturer, has) since the 1920s, which helps a lot with deficiency.

 

Eating seafood is a good way to get it into a diet, naturally.
