Any Army officer, all the way down to sub lieutenant, may shut down any media outlet if he feels they are doing wrong under section 44.

You can't always get what you want but if you try, sometimes you might find that you get what you need.

Difficult job for him - especially with all the shouting by the 'critical media'.

He made a valid point once before (and I paraphrase), if he does what international whiners, like the USA, want him to do, and the country goes tits up (again), then will the USA admit they screwed up and fix it? Will the various bleating media outlets admit they were wrong, and fix things?

Hardly.

He's in a tough position, but ultimately he's on the right track, in terms of what is best, and what is needed, for Thailand and Thais.
