If you got a sweet deal, I doubt you got a room in evergreen wing.

Dont worry, I just had a 2 week stay in the Corona building (the middle of the 3) and it was fine. Nice room, good shower, good wifi (except for one day when it was down!), no hassles over guests. You'll enjoy your stay regardless of building.

Next trip Aug 31-Sep13, theme: try more freelancers, get dirty! Note to self: TAKE MORE PHOTOS!!!

The building you stay in is dictated by the type of room you booked, however I have stayed in all three buildings and like the Corona Building with one of the rooms that overlook the pool (Deluxe Room).

Check the room that you have booked and look on their site and you will be able to tell which building you are in.

I like the Areca, have stayed there 3 times now, twice in Corona, last visit in Evergreen. Everything about the place is good quality, rooms, breakfast, pools, staff.

Except the wifi - without doubt the worst of my entire 4 week stay in Thailand - and I stayed in some cheapo guesthouses in different places. On several days the entire thing was down for hours on other occasions it was there but the server kept losing the session. Made life different when I was trying to set up meetings using LINE with a few girls. Conclusion on wifi - Complete and utter crap.

I'll stay there again but make sure I get a data package on my Thai SIM card so I dont have to rely on their wifi.

i wasn't implying that you wouldn't have a good stay in the other buildings. Just that they usually don't give discounts in the evergreen wing as it is very popular i have had great stays in the other towers.

Evergreen > Corona for sure. I don't think there are any deluxe rooms in Evergreen only super deluxe.

Posted

can you share what kind of room & cost  , I am planning to book on last week of june

Posted

For Evergreen Super Deluxe Room I paid 1850 baht a night.  That was after 1st March, with the Ace Club membership reduction. Inc tax, breakfast and no joiners fee and no problem taking the girls down to breakfast either.

I stayed in both Carona and Evergreen, the rooms in evergreen are better but the walk from the road is a pain. Though they are guest friendly I found it annoying that if we are visited by a lady guest we need to come to the reception and escort them to the room I found it a pain in ass.

Living sober, clean and staying away from loose women doesn't make a man live any longer. It just fucking feels like it.

Anyone been to Areca recently. I'm booked in for mid may. Has the building work ended by the evergreen building yet?

Got fairly noises last year.

Posted

Yes mate the building work has stopped and they are fitting the place out now...i was there for xmas-new year and going back on thursday....

There is still some building work going on next door with fitting out the units and you can sometimes hear drilling from the fit-out as I can now while writing this!  However it is not too bad...

It's an absolute horrible place to stay because the wifi never works. I keep thinking they will improve it and keep staying there but never again. Too bad because other than that it's ok. Other than that Ms. Lincoln, how was the play??

nice hotel but wifi is crap. i don't understand how management con not realize how this damages its own business...

I have stayed at areca  7 times, but this year prices seem to have gone up   .I may look at other better priced places   .I like the areca, but they want 2300  baht a night end of april.,    too much i feel.

I've stayed at Areca lodge and although nice I have found April Suites to be even better at a cheaper price.

Surprised about the bad WIFI remarks. I have stayed there several times and having a good WIFI connection is important to me. I never had a problem and thought it was quite strong. Maybe I was just lucky but if I had a bad connection I would not have stayed there again but since it was good I returned several times.

I stayed in Corona last year and WIFI was OK. This year stayed in Evergreen twice, (Feb and March) and WIFI was unfailingly rubbish. My mate was in another part of the Evergreen wing and his WIFI was just as bad.  I don't know what they have done recently which has resulted in such a downgrade in service.

I stayed there last week and the WIFI was crap, however not a deal breaker for me.

All it says is standard room ,

1 double bed or 1 twin bed

344-sq-foot (32-sq-meter) room, balcony with city views

I think the price was around 1800 baht...... including breakfast

I really hope so. Cuz i am changing the plans now and hoping for an extended stay.

I booked it through a third party site and all it mentions is standard room , free wifi, breakfast ...lol

From looking on the website is it safe to assume although the evergreen is newer, it doesn't have a pool view?  Or at least a close up view?  Would the best choice be a deluxe room in the older buildings to achieve a good pool view?
