Short Story RE: Scenery City Hotel

Bummed this place up a few times on this forum but left disappointed with them the other day.

I was eating sushi on my bed and like a dick I spilled the tub of soy sauce on the bed sheets, called reception and they changed the sheets. They advised that they would try to clean them but if not then I'd have to pay for them, fair enough.

Checked out next morning and they said I had to pay 2000baht for the sheets, I said no problem but if I'm paying for them I want to keep them. The sour faced reception bitch who I'll refer to from now on as cunt looked perplexed and told me that I couldn't have them as they were wet, I said no problem I'll give them to my friend. Cunt then disappears for 5 mins and when she comes back I no longer have to pay 2000baht but instead 500 for cleaning.

In fairness to cunt it may not have been her doing as there was a post it note on my bill which had some stuff in Thai, she seemed to just be reading off it. So now I'm torn, do I go back there or just fuck them off and take my business elsewhere, must've stayed there 5 times in past 6 months.

Go back why not ? you fucked up spilling stuff most likely she made a mistake or they tried it on but who can blame them if the boot was on the other foot.

Often I have had a girl bleed on the sheets and been charged a fee to address it sometimes small amounts others how shall we say more than the sheets were worth, and like you after raising the issue the cost was reduced.

Just one of those things I am afraid and if that is the only moan on what appears to be good stays why fuck them off for some other gaff

My gal got blood in the sheets at I- rovers apartments. I was charged 500 baht.

Upon checkout, Simon asked me if I was okay with the charge, no problem, I know the routine.

But I thought it was quite decent of him to ask. He confronted the issue and I didn't leave with a bad taste.

Don't forget to tip the maids. If you stain the sheets, you might get out of it without that charge if you have tipped them. In modern times they have all kinds of washing agents or bleach, which make almost every stain to disappear, so I don't buy the fact they have to bin the sheets even if there are blood or red wine stains.

Lately my nose started to bleed and I stained my cotton jacket. Absolutely no problem getting rid of the stains with Vanish powder. Stains were dry already as I washed the jacket next day. Same happened when I spilled some red wine on my new white polo shirt.

Last barfine I had who bled on the sheets insisted on cleaning them.

Has the Scenery managed to get the pool open yet?

Totally disagree with what you say, only thing i didn't like was the poor WiFi.

Would actually go as far to say it is one of the best hotels for the price point

looks like cunt tried to scam OP.

2000 baht buys a full net set of bedlinens, not just a sheet.

Good move to ask to keep the sheets!

Hit the nail on the head with the tipping the maid, they would normally just replace it or they would of asked for less money to sort the problem

I remember my girl friend bringing up last nights drink which was Red Wine over the top bedding

while i cleaned up the floor i tipped the cleaners well for new top without the management knowing.

Happened to me as well and they wanted to charge me 1200 baht for new  bottom sheets. We ended up settling for 500 baht.

When it happened again, I took the sheets and had it cleaned by local laundry shop for 100 baht.

When it happened again with bar girl with period, she went to 7-11 and paid 20 baht for laundry soap and had it cleaned in the shower/sink.

Its a common trick for hotels to charge xtra for stained sheets and try to get away with it. Some hotel maids knows this and will try to negotiate directly with you for agreed price. 100 baht is doable.

Very common scam hotels try on tourists. It happens to most farangs. Best to avoid this hotel and explain why and try another. Its matter of principle.

im a bit shy when it comes to other people cleaning my mess.

only once i remember not being happy that sheets were not as clean as they should be, i cancelled room cleaning that day, and cleaned them myself.

Once I have paid for the stained sheets. It was 300bht but have had them few times since and tipping the maids 100bht they disappeared without any extra charge. Of course I tipped them before the incident some but they provided me the extra towels constantly without asking more than once.

I think a good system is to tip them in the beginning of your stay and then some during the stay. In the beginning of my stay I usually stay in my room one time when they are doing the cleaning and show them a place where I put my tip(coins and cash) as they don't take your useless coins if you don't tell them it's ok.

Always speak to the cleaner first, give her a couple of hundred you will have no problems

It happened after the cleaner had gone home, didn't want my lady friend for the night to think that I'd shat the bed...

don't they clean the sheets anyway when the guests leave? no special detergent needed to wash out blood.

Soy isnt hard to remove. Chinese restaurants wouldn't love the white table cloths if it was. Worked in a resort laundry. Red wine, blood, shit etc. No problem. If you want to go back, why not email the manager to ask the policy?
