Eva business class question

I have never flown long haul and never flown business class so I am lucky to get to fly Eva's business class on my first trip to LOS in September. I am flying from LAX-TPE-BKK. At the moment I can pretty much choose any seat that I want except for the first two rows. Does anyone have any recommendations on what seats to choose? I want a window seat so that obviously narrows it to either A or K but is there a particular row that is more desirable? Seatguru is not much help. I plan on sleeping as much as I can and would like to avoid as much traffic from the flight attendants and other passengers as possible. I would also like to avoid lights from people opening doors to the toilets and galleys as much as possible.

Any thoughts?

I liked row 9. Business class is split into two areas, the second being the smaller and that's what I chose. You really can't go wrong either way. Enjoy!

I had 3A before on the LAX-TPE flight and liked it a lot, and it seemed to be far enough away from restrooms and galleys. The TPE-BKK flight doesn't have their newer seats and 1-2-1 layout but it's a relatively short flight.

Remember you can choose you meals before you travel , there is a wider selection than will be offered on the flight

If it floats, flies or fucks It's probably cheaper to rent ...

I actually have seat 9k chosen for all legs of the flight so far coming and going. I was thinking of changing to the forward cabin in row 3 just because it seemed to be the furthest away from all of the lights.

Skink,

The layout says that they do have the 1-2-1 layout for the TPE-BKK leg of the flight. I hope that they do. Either way it will not be terrible.

I am looking forward to choosing my meal before the flight. From what I read, you cannot choose until about three weeks before the flight. Unfortunately I still have about 6 months to go before my flight.

I like the A seats in the front cabin.. 3A is a one I like as well.     But I had 1A and it was quiet as well even thought it's in the front.

A or K depends on how you like to turn when sleeping, do you like to lie on your left side or right side?

Oops, I should have said didn't have instead of doesn't have when referring to their TPE-BKK flight. That's great news and hopefully they are updating all their planes to their new business class product.

I like 2K but you can have a look at the plane layout from the link below and make your own mind up!

I flew EVA on last trip, from BKK to TPE.

I think I chose 11K.

I always like to pick the second business seat section for some reason. Can't really go wrong with business anywhere IMO, but maybe near the toilets might be a little noisier due to traffic.

Picking window seat goes without saying. I don't like middle seats that face each other.

I had a similar decision to make for my EVA flights in June/July from LHR.

Not flown them before.

I would have chosen the front row but it was not available. I sleep on my left so wanted one of the 'A' seats.

Decided against the second cabin just in case it was too close to the 'traffic' in the main part of the plane.

Ended up choosing 6A as there will be no-one behind me. Hoping toilet won't be a problem. I wear ear buds with music to keep out noise when sleeping on plane anyway.

Once I've been this time, I'll have a better idea of choices for next flight.

I have 'choose meals' on my calendar for 2 weeks before I travel :-)

Good point about which side I sleep on. I actually sleep mostly on my left side so I would want one of the "A" seats as well it seems. I'd rather face the wall when sleeping than the aisle. I would have never thought about that.

It probably wouldn't be too comfortable if sleeping on your side but they do hand out noise-cancelling over the ear headphones. Seems like there were also some little ear plugs and a blindfold in the amenity kit.

Awwwww....jeez...QuotaMan, you KNOW that -- next to hot naked Thai girls -- "travel porn" is my favorite type of photos!

I have searched my old emails and can't recall for the life of me what seats I had the last time I flew EVA business (which was just last year!).  I want to think it was either row 3 or row 9; I always shoot for the window seats, and I have always been very happy with EVA.

One potential downside to the smaller business class section: there inevitably seems to be one guy who snores like a power saw going through lumber. In the smaller sections, the odds of him disturbing your sleep are a little worse.  That said, as noted above, I think there are ear plugs in the toiletry kits (EVA gives out SWEET Rimowa hard-sided kits).

I should also add that I couldn't hear the "snoring guy" on my last flight, so I am very concerned that it was ME!

Another thing to look out for is the potential bassinet locations. I've selected a seat for a little bit more legroom only to be stuck next to a screaming baby.

I'm not that great with taking pictures on planes but I try to take some for future reference (as I tend to get a bit drunk). Usually they tend to be pics of the wine list or something similar. The only pics I could find from Eva were of their power ports and tea list. I'm thinking I didn't recognize a couple of the teas and wanted to look them up later.

I fly the same route. Seat 5k on there new 777's with wifi.

Trust me 5k is in a great spot. I must have drank a while bottle of Don P on the way to TpE.

Love there pajamas I put them on before I even take off. Haha. So comfy !!

My last flight, I was on the row behind the bassinet row (row 2, I believe) from BKK to HKG - three women with three SICK babies get on and sit in that row.

Flight attendants check and at least 1 or 2 of the kids have fevers.  While I would like to be sympathetic to the plights of the mothers, this was in February when there was a serious Avian flu going around (especially in China), and I wasn't too keen to have these kids spewing germs all over me for 2 1/2 hours.

I quickly got up and bolted to a seat at the very back of business class, and others followed suit.  By the time we took off (flight delayed a good 30+ minutes while the flight attendants discussed what to do/how to handle it), the only person within 2 rows of those kids was a woman with a broken foot who couldn't change seats.

Frankly, the seat change was pretty meaningless -- if those kids had the Avian flu, it would have spread through the entire plan through the air circulation system, which is a big reason why I was surprised Cathay allowed them to stay on board.

I just changed the two legs going over to seat 3A. Coming back to the states I have seat 9A for BKK-TPE then seat 5A for TPE-LAX. I'm probably over-thinking it all but based on the replies so far, I feel pretty good about those seats.

The kid thing is a little scary though. I would have ran to the back as well.

Are the business seats on EVA flights from SFO or LAX the old 2-2-2 or new ones 1-2-1 setup.  On seatguru it says its the old setup and not the new royal seats.

No, I have taken Eva from the SFO To TPE at least once a year for a few years. They changed to 1-2-1 about 2 years ago. If you look on seatguru, you need to pick the right version.

Eva was the first airline I flew business class in and I did enjoy it but I don't drink and eat on the plane so they kept coming round with champagne and food and I said no just water.

It caused quite a stir and in the end the captain himself came and asked if I had a problem and I said no,I'm just didn't like eating in the plane. He said I was the first one ever, which gave me some twisted pride.

SeatGuru still shows EVA with the old configuration out of LHR and it changed ages ago!

I knew I'd read the announcement but was still relieved when I logged in to choose my seat after booking :-)

I did email SeatGuru to tell them but they still hadn't changed it the last I looked.

Yea seatguru must be outdated then.  EVA website when you book says it's 77W version of 777 and on seatguru it has the old configuration.

Did you fly on on a DC 3

If it's a lie flat Royal Laurel class seat it doesn't matter where you sit IMO.  Even middle seats.  There is no sense of another person next to you.

IMO this is the best price/quality business class to Thailand from the west coast and you have chosen wisely.  Hopefully you chose the night flight connecting in TPE arriving around 11 AM?  And return leaving BKK around 12 noon?
