Found a great bloke who does some cheap car hire if anyone is interested,i have hired a ford laser,couple of years old but clean runs like a dream,best of all 4000 baht a week or 12000 baht for the month,not stupid deposits either 2000 he also has brand new vigos for 16000 a month pm me if you want his number.

sounds like a good deal. But what happens when things go wrong? ie - the car gets nicked?

i dont know he seems ok,when i got a flat tyre he came out straight away,put a brand new tyre on as it was shredded,no charge even asked if i wanted a newer car same price,no loss of deposit and he is english

Seems cheap but does he give you the insurance documents as well (copy that is)

i have used a few companies for car hire, but i now only use two companies in pattaya HOLIDAY RENT A CAR on 3rd road and ESCAPE RENTALS on Soi Diana. These companies offer Full accident and Medical insurance, Their deposit is quite high(5000 baht) but i think its worth it for piece of mind. I have hired cars from the cheap thai man or other cheap and cheerful companies but alot of the time they only have personal insurance, so if you have an accident they say you are a member of the family and insured for the car, but its more likely I BREAK- I PAY....... The same goes when you rent a motorbike. Also your National Driving Licence is not valid in Thailand, only a International or Thai Licence is. Do you really want to spoil your holiday by saving a few baht. Remember we are farrang and any chance the thais or police can squeeze us for money....THEY WILL.

A flat tyre is not a problem. But if you have a bump, you could end up witha huge bill.
