Just a word of warning for fellow travellers. I returned to the uk 5 days ago after spending one month at this hotel. I got nothing to gain about telling the truth about this hotel but would not want any other member going through what myself and my partner went through. after arriving at the hotel above I immediately thought this does not look like the hotel pics on the internet I booked with and I booked with a well known company associated with this site but I must state I did not book through this site I done it over the internet never again to make the same mistake. the following morning when I awoke I went to speak with one of the receptionists at front desk who informed me that I had booked a budget room the cost came to 650.00 uk pounds for one month the pics on the internet was of the new wing I said ok ,on returning to my room my partner was taking a shower and told me there was no hot water so I said ok we will inform staff when we go out, this was first morning there so off we go after informing staff they say ok we will send maintenance man to fix it for you I say thank you and of we go on returning the same day, still no hot water so I went and bought a kettle as I needed to have a shave the following day still no hot water so off to reception again this went on for 4 days with no hot water I also had air con on in my room all the time we were in it.now on the fifth day I got no water at all no hot or cold so as you can imagine im now realy aggitated I ask to speak to manager and the reply was manager unavailable at this time so I asked for a different room which I was giving but only to be allowed in room for 5 minutes before a knock  on the door saying sorry this room already booked we have new room to give you and your partner now the first room I was in was a rats nest compared to this one but I agreed to see the other room on seeing other room it was a lot cleaner than room 324 my first room then I was moved to other room for 5 minutes then another room which was 217 better than first but not as good as 5 minute room but at least had hot water so upon empying  suitecases out off we went again we are now one week into holiday with a soar throat and my partner coughing realy bad so I say to her you ok she says not to worry so I accept what she says now another few days go by and her coughing realy bad so I take her to pharmacist on second road got some antibiotics after explaining we were fine until a week or so after arriving he informed me it could be down to smoking or dirty air caused by the air con so after the 3rd week I take her to pattaya hospital for x ray and they say she got an infection in her lung of dirty air con in hotel. they gave her more antibiotics and told her finish couse now since I returned home in the uk and she has since been to her local hospital in yasathon which confirmed infection due to dirty air con so this story is all truth and just a warning to fellow travellers.

Very sorry to hear of your sad experience, hope your partner is okay now. ..........just yet another reason not to pay upfront for any hotel in Pattaya, unless you have stayed there before, even then not recommended.

Really? So what are some of the other reasons that you speak of. What are your experiences? What option do you use to book a hotel

To the OP ... sorry to hear about your experience. Just wondering how you managed to avoid a throat infection from the AC if you were staying in the same room? How can 'they' be sure it was the AC?

YES REALLY! Why gamble by paying for your entire stay upfront? Especially now when accomodation of all types is available on a walk-in basis, maybe not your 1st choice but at least you get to choose without risking paying for a shithole!

I have noticed recently an increase in of dis-satisfaction of accomodations & refusal by hotels especially to entertain any refund or consideration even when the said room is far below advertised ambience!

I have over 25 trips to my name in the past 12 years & have never paid upfront, & have never had any difficulty obtaining VFM on arrival.

Regarding his avoiding throat infection no two people react the same to bugs, eg I s.....d a tart & 4 days later visited the doc, my mate followed me by 1 hr & caught SFA!

Wow... 25 trips..good for you.

I've done a few more but that's not really the point. I've never had a problem booking in advance. Sure, I've had to get some minor problems sorted out and I've negotiated full refunds when not completely satisfied but overall it's been an easy and convenient method. And a real time saver.

On the other hand, if you want to traipse around town with you luggage in the stinking hot sun knocking on doors in search of a room all credit to you. Meanwhile I'll be sitting in one of those bars that you walk past sipping on a cold one with a hottie in my lap.

Happy days....55555

Oh and thanks for clearing up the AC issue.

Sorry I meant to say that I never pay in advance, but I have booked in advance (without any payment) & never had a problem. there again my preference is for guesthouses rather than

hotels.

That's what I do also. Very risky to pay in advance as the Thais tend to be not the best problem solving people at the world. Lot's of reports here in the forum when the things have went bad and the replies from the managers have been less than satisfying.

Only once I had the problem with the leaky AC and it was solved immediatelly by Thai management. Lucky me but I still wouldn't pay in advance for the hotel or for the booking agency.

....why, 'value for money', of course.....use your heid!!!

Since I joined this forum, I have been amazed at the number of lazy typists on it.

Are all the posters supposed to know what all the initials stand for?

It could mean Very Fucking Mad, or something else.
