Jollys

Anyone know who the new owner of Jollys is? My 1st choice accomodation for years, however with an increase of %50 in prices & the departure of 2 of the best long serving staff IMHO , has forced to seek alternative.

  I hope they come to their senses when the rooms are empty & they realise the remaining staff are very average!

Agree 100% but this is Thailand and common sense doesn.t count here-before the new year place was very busy most days,rent goes up and new owner moves in upping prices..............I,ve not had a meal there since :SoWhat1:

Same owner as far as I know!  English bloke with tatts on his neck?  They have been advertising for new staff over the last 2 months so that is nothing new and the food prices have increased by 20% since October!

Any place that tells me I have to order bread and cheese extra  for a ploughmans lunch is in  trouble. I hope the new owners can turn it  around .

As much as I love all things Australian, I got to get me action of the asian persuasian.

Same owner as far as I know!  English bloke with tatts on his neck?  They have been advertising for new staff over the last 2 months so that is nothing new and the food prices have increased by 20% since October!

 

my mate who has also stayed there for many years arrived last week to be greeted with the news his rate had increased to 1100 bht from 750 as NEW owners had taken over. The wanted  sign has been there for at least 12 Months to my knowledge & there is a moderate staff turnover year round, but the 2 that have left since change had been there for many YEARS & nothing was to much trouble for them to make customers stay a happy one (apart from sex)!

 Their food prices have been steadily increasing 7 PANTINI next door is far better value.

Don't moan- move on to another place ! Loads of nice cheap places to stay in/around soi Bua Khao....Dee Express ??

I heard a rumour that a couple of long term members of staff were let go because they had their fingers in the till, literally........can't comment on increased prices, but computerisation of the billing system is long overdue.

Cannot & will not comment on that rumour only to say that knowing both of these ladies for years

i find it hard to believe & strange this rumour has only surfaced recently since ownership change!

 Just for members info. Daily rates now 1100 for room & 1300 for a de-luxe, having seen all 6 rooms over the years cannot find any differences.

monthly rate increased from 18000 to 23000.

5000B increase on the monthly rate is a hefty increase IMHO,when you consider the competition in the area.

The Target Regency next door had rooms for 500B and 800B over Xmas.  Thing is that major development behind is going to kick off soon and will be at least 18 month of construction work!

Never stayed there but over the past 3 months, in the restaurant, the service has gone down hill, so has the food and the portions seem smaller but the prices have risen.

 

The Sunday all you can eat roasts used to be good but now are very poor, the vegetables are over cooked and the quality of the meats, also over cooked, seems far poorer.

 

Nice coffee though, anyone going there would be better just sticking to that and eating elsewhere at the moment.

 

Shame as it used to be okay for an occasional visit..

Thanks for the link,have walked by many times when i stayed in the area,but at 9,000B+ utilities and the  in-pending building work,and low season coming,people would better off going over the road and soi`s leading to the third road.

Even without the up-coming building work the noise from the Thai crap videokes/bands that go on till 4am uncontrolled had already made me consider moving.

Went on Sunday for the all you can eat Carvery. Vegetables and meat were fine. Thought it good value, 3 courses all you can eat 239bt.

Shes pretty average fare!  Antons is much better!

carvery there is good value, but if the new owner is reading this, Yorkshire pudding and sage & stuffing would be a welcome addition, maybe cut back on some of the veg )

It worked out 100% accurate!!! New owner just posted new website where as before rooms were in the 7/800 bht range nightly depending on season & around 30% discount on Monthly stays. Now rooms are either 1100 or 1300 Nightly with NO monthly discount, this for a guesthouse in a VERY noisy nightime location! At 41,000 bht + a month many excellent condos become competitive!
