hello everyone,

I need to book a flight straight out to koh samui from when I land at suvarnabhumi, but im a bit unsure how much time I should leave between landing an and take off.  Its a big airport so I wouldnt know how far away departures is or how long you have to get to the check in desk with bangkok airways.  Even though I would much prefer to be early for the flight I dont want to be waiting all day.

Any help would be much appreciated thanks

The airport is large, but as far as I know it's all pretty much in one building.

Depending on what time you come in, getting thru immigration should take 15 minutes to 2 hrs. I usually come in late evening and my wait has never been longer than 20-30 minutes.

If you want to get an idea of how long it takes, check out how much time the airline gives you for one of their connecting flights to where you're going.

Not sure if you'll be able to have your baggage checked through to Samui?

List of airlines here:

http://www.bangkokair.com/eng/pages/view/check-in-through

Obviously, you'll need less time if you can - the website says 75 minutes.

I'm sure someone on the board will have done this recently.

Did the same in october  landed swampy, through immigration ,picked up luggage and

then wandered upstairs to departures .

I had allowed  3 hours between landing and  take off for samui .

Had plenty of time for a smoke and coffee in the bangkok air lounge.

The first you most do is to ensure it's possible to check in baggage from your home airport and all the way  to Samui.

Otherwise, as a general rule, allow 2 hours between flights when arriving or departing international.

The website reads as if it's checking bags through on the way home from Samui, so it is something that needs to be checked even if your airline is on the list.
