Construction alert - China Garden

SlowlyMan

Recommended Posts

The building next to China Garden hotel is undergoing renovation.

The last few days they have been making quite a racket. They don't start at the crack of dawn, but they do start. It's proven impossible to sleep once they get started.

Thanks for the info. Any idea how long it's likely to go on for? I'm booked in March.

I stayed there when they were renovating jockeys, what a fucking nightmare, I had to check out.

They seemed to like to start the jack hammering early in the morning and then things would go quiet in the afternoon.

You would think they could get their shit together.

I feel sorry again for Ian.

There always seems to be some sort of noise construction almost everywhere in patts these days.

Building to the right as you walk past reception.

Appears to be the early stages, but who knows with Thai contractors. Could be finished in a month or year.

Jockeys would only be 18 months old!  Could not see it needing a reno in that short time!

Hi Guys,

I have been told Jockey's had some kind of termite problem and have been doing a little work to fix that, very short term "unlike the renovations last year" which was a major problem for us.

Onyx the other side have been renovating since late December, I understand they are only doing the ground floor and making some kind of restaurant, so far they are keeping to our request of "no banging before 11 am or after 17.00 pm", we did threaten to go to City Hall & Immigration if the ignored our request.

I know with late nights out it's not ideal and we are sorry, they seem to be in the "construction phase" now so hopefully it won't be to much longer.

I can say for a fact they got started about 9-10 most days. Regardless, I realize it is mostly beyond control of China Garden. Still a good value hotel.

I was at China Garden for 2 stays in December and January and it was always as quiet as you might expect from Soi Lengkee apart from the occasional party night somewhere nearby or those passing loudspeaker trucks now and then.

On my 2nd stay January 6th to 11th it was only slightly noisier in mid morning and afternoon as I think some preparation next door might have been starting even then.  I noticed that when I checked in for the second run.. as the rooms look out on that side of the building but it was negligible as a nuisance. Clearly much more substantial now, sorry to hear,

Still think it's a superb place to stay but hope those staying there now don't have too much annoyance from this building work. I'm not much of a daytime sleeper and tend to be out quite early despite late nights, but It's one of the real hazards in hotels big or small and just pot luck if it happens when you are booked in. Thanks for the heads up. I'm possibly back in May and if I am, hopefully this might be done by then.

.Gotta love the phrase ' "no banging before 11 am or after 17.00 pm" '....glad I don't stick to that rule...

How long will the construction workers be there for? Is it 1,2,6mths or more?  Cheers

I'm currently booked back in. For the moment the noise seems to have abated. Now they are noxious fumes emanating from the job. Must be some sort of adhesive. It hasn't carried into the room, just as you walk through the hallway.

Yesterday the service girls were covering there noses while outside.

I spoke too soon. The grinding started at 8am this morning. I guess it's just going to be a fact of life. On and off until the project is finished.
