Pattaya to Hua Hin and Hua Hin to DMK?

Hi Guys

Just after Prices and options to go from Pattaya to Hua Hin and how easy it is to get from Hua Hin to DMK?

Thanks

LMNOP

I cant answer re HH to DMK but here are some options from Pattaya to HH

Bus - to Southern Terminal in BKK then a bus to HH. The buses from Southern go to HH about every hour. I would avoid the "mini buses" as they drive like lunatics. Cost approx 360-400 Baht (some buses are VIP and a little more). Time about 4.5 - 5 hours + layover time in BKK. It can take longer than 5 hours if you are travelling during peak traffic hours as getting out of BKK can be very slow.

Taxi - anything from 2000 to 4000. Takes about 3 to 3.5 hours. Tans Taxi does Pattaya to HH - she is not the cheapest (3k) but she has very nice big cars (Honda CRVs).

Taxi/car avoids the need to go into BKK hence why so much quicker. Its main road pretty much all the way.

Pattaya to Hua Hin:

1. Minivan from Pattayatai directly to Hua Hin. The most effective as it does not go through BKK. 5-6 hours. Can't remember price, perhaps 300.

2. Airport bus Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi and new airport bus Suvarnabhumi to Hua Hin. About 150+150 for the two buses IIRC.

3. Taxi

I would not take a bus or minvan to BKK and then plan to take a new one from BKK to HH. Because you perhaps have to change bus stop in BKK, and it can be far from two bus stops in BKK. The other reason being is that if you come too late to BKK, the minivan/bus might have stopped going for the day so you will have to take a taxi down to HH. It also takes much longer time.

Pattaya - Duang Mung

I'd love to see where you end up ...'take me to duang mung' 555

I've done hua hin to bkk in those minibuses and it was freakin dreadful.

How could it not go through Bangkok? I would definitely take a bus to Bangkok first, preferably to Victory Monument and then another one to Hua Hin. Or if I drove myself, I would drive up Sukhumvit Rd until Chon Buri and then head towards Bang Na (which is in Bangkok already).

Not long ago, I was on a bus near Laem Chabang when some farang was going to get on. I was the only one who could speak English so I got to talk. This man insisted there was a bus to Hua Hin that wouldn't go to Bangkok first but me and the driver kept telling him no. All the buses go to Bangkok first. So he didn't get on. I'm fairly sure he could spend hours there waiting for his bus that never comes.

It can yes, and it saves lot of time by not going in and out of BKK.

Have you ever seen the map? Where exactly do you cross the Chao Phraya river?

You can't possibly save a lot of time by minimising your time on Bangkok tollroads because the expressway between Bang Na and Chon Buri isn't exactly slow but you can save time not having to wait for the next bus of course.

Anyway, if you mean this bus:

Service #7 seems to go to Hua Hin but it does go through Bangkok. I don't know where exactly the bus stations are there but it probably stops near IKEA and then again at Bang Na where you can take the skytrain. This is not a " minivan" either.

No I havent studied the map, but I did take the direct van Hua Hin to Pattaya as late as last week. If you require to go first to Victory Monument, then take a new van from there, or take the route where a skytrain is neccessary, then feel free to do so.

From my limited experience... All routes go over that big beautiful bridge, some then go into Bangkok proper where you change buses. Others bear right and skim the city. Sunday I will take a bus to Suvarnabhumi Airport from Hua Hin, then pt taxi will pick me up. Could save money and take another bus but I am traveling heavy and cannot be bothered.
