Good Place to stay at Walking Street

I normally stay north of Walking Street, but this time I want my base in the middle of the action for some quick bombing runs.  I'm planning on staying at the Swiss hotel.  Any feedback would be appreciated.

The Grand hotel is good , but only on the 8th or 9 th floors, the reception staff are not that great , but as I never have any contact with them after I check in , it doesn't really bother me.

Honey Lodge is a hidden gem. Fully renovated now and it has a good sized pool also.  Right in the action but very quiet.  I stayed for Songkran in April 2014.

If you want REALLY "thick of the action" Try the following

Galaxy Suites - Soi Diamond - next to Heaven Above and same owners

Secrets - Soi 14 just off WS

You could also take a look at P72 Hotel. Its a bit "tired" these days but its very cheap and right in the center of WS itself.

Also take a look at Agoda's List of "hotels close to Walking Street" - dont have to use them but it does give a list. Its not wholly accurate as "close to" is a bit subjective but you can search through them to finds the ones that are really on WS or close.

Don't forget about Jasmine hotel off Walking Street on Soi BJ. The only problem is that some of the rooms have no view (i.e. face a building wall a foot away) and can be noisy because it's not fully enclosed. It's definitely right in the middle of the action though.

Only drawback to this place is there are no safes in the rooms, you have to keep your valuables behind reception. Not a problem for most people, its just that if theres a queue at reception then you might have to wait...or maybe im just being picky, brilliantly situated hotel though.Stayed there years ago and the rooms were tired and worn, but after a major refurb it looks good.

I just stayed a week at Jasmine hotel. Place was pretty empty. The rooms look a bit old. I did not like the mildew on the bathroom walls. Just made the place look old and dirty. I stayed in the Superior room with balcony for 950. You get a view of rooftops. Nothing worth looking at. The guy that cleans your room is a bit creepy. Every time I leave my room during the day, he just pops out of nowhere!

I also checked a few of the hotels around there in the 650-850 range including White Rose 1 and 2. All looked old. Then I stumbled upon this thread. Diamond Beach hotel looked ok for 850, but no in room safe and I heard the roof top pool is closed. Galaxy suites had a 895 walk in special. Looked good. I was deciding between that and Secrets. Finally decided on Secrets. They even gave a 100baht food voucher.. 895 for standard room. good deal.
