Extension of visa (retirement)

My extension of visa (retirement) expires slap bang in the middle of Songkran, when all Immigration Offices are closed.

I'm keen to avoid the crush immediately before/after Songkran.

Can anyone point me to the page of the Thai Immigration web-site that indicates earliest/latest dates on which extensions may be granted?

(Elsewhere it states clearly that 90 day reports can be accepted up to 15 days before/7 days after the deadline date, but can't find anything equivalent for the annual extension exercise).

Thanks

Sorry I dont know the page.

Ive been told at Jomtien that the maximum is one month before unless you can produce a plane ticket showing that you will be out of country at the date of expiry.

I can appreciate why you would like to refer them to their website but......

I had a similar problem about three years ago. I went in with all the paperwork 6 weeks early. They never even remarked on the timing at all and I got my one year extension. This was at Jomtien.

About 4 years ago I did the same, but last year they told me the rule is now maximum one month without a flight ticket - who knows.

I've gone up to a month before expiration and got the visa, effective for one year from date of expiration.

Good service.

Slightly off topic-can someone explain the (Thai) logic of reporting every 90 days? TIA

at the very least you need a beer."

Just logically, I always thought it was reasonable for us to confirm to Immigration every 3 months where we are living?

I don't see why that is "(Thai) logic"?

Reporting the same address every 3 months makes no sense at all unless you like mountains of useless paper work.  Reporting would have some meaning if required each time you actually change your address but not every 3 months just copying and creating more paper.  Where do they keep all the useless stuff anyway? :ThumbUp6:

Do you really think people would tell them when they moved?

I wonder how many people change their Thai DL address when they move.

If they need to send the BiB they need to know where you live - their own system is about ID cards and House Books, so it isn't even double standards.

It only takes most of us a few minutes to do (can't you even do it by post) and remember if you leave Thailand and come back, you write your address on the T7 and the 90 day clock starts again - I haven't done an address report for over 4 years.

Yes you are right. They have reduced it to no paperwork with a barcoded form stapled in your passport and in and out service in 4 minutes.  Who would believe it but it is true.
