Frightening waiting for their flights with Etihad.

I think I would probably go mad, to experience such a long wait. At the airport was fog, passengers on the plane waited 12 hours to departure

Twenty-eight hours lasted a weekend flight Etihad Airways from Abu Dhabi to San Francisco. The control tower at the airport of the capital of the United Arab Emirates issued a permit to take off after twelve hours. Hundreds of frustrated passengers had all the time to wait on the plane, on Monday

"She told us that she will fly - in 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes. Twelve hours, "said station KGO Thomas Piani after the machine in San Francisco on Saturday night finally landed.

The plane could not take off because the airport was unusually thick fog. Even after a long time, but did not allow the airport crew or passengers to have climbed again. Airports by them was full of other flights that scooped delay.

"Everyone wrestled with himself, flight attendants struggled with us and we struggled with on-board personnel," said another passenger Venkatesh Pahwa.

"No one is angry because of the delay itself. When it is not safe to fly, so we do not want to fly. But did not make sense to stay on the plane, "said Reddy Raval, according to which the stewardess handed out sandwiches and drinks to people when she started complaining that they are hungry.

Etihad passengers apologized. She added, however, that difficulties as a result of its intervention and other airlines are struggling with them as well. The connection to San Francisco was one of those worst affected.

Theres another thread on Etihads delays in this section.

But yes, Abu Dhabi has been suffering from heavy fog causing severe disruption to Etihad's schedules.

Fog is going to happen, not much anyone can do about it. The dissapointing thing is the very poor way Etihad appear to have handled their disrupted passengers. Its all over various news and airline websites. Due to this, Etihad has dropped way down on my consider list for future flights.

Next trip Aug 31-Sep13, theme: try more freelancers, get dirty! Note to self: TAKE MORE PHOTOS!!!

Hi Thajec.

Yes, I wrote about the problems a friend had getting out of BKK with Etihad:

Long and boring posts, sorry! :-)

It's put me off using them. They can't control the weather, but they treated him quite badly - and the staff at Bangkok lied about available flights.

I don't get why an airline won't let passengers off when they know it will not be taking off for hours.

By law in our civilized country, those waits no longer happen on the airplane.

at the very least you need a beer."

I'm no expert, but couldn't they simply have rolled up a jetway and bussed the passengers to a holding area?

I bet it costs money to do anything once you've pulled out from the jetway...
