Desperate for Holiday Inn Info

Does anyone have any info on the Holiday Inn? I know they use to charge a joiner fee but now seem to have waived it, but I dont hear any talk about anyone staying there and bringing girls back. It seems to be a family hotel. The only reason I am inquiring and wanting to stay there is I am a platinum rewards member and not only will I be able to stay for free, but I will be upgraded to the executive lounge floor in a suite with free drinks and food. If anyone has any info, especially if they have stayed there in the past and took girls back, I would really appreciate the feedback. Thanks.

I stayed in Holiday Inn early last year. No joiner fee at that time. It is a family hotel. If you are "shy", bring your girls back as late as possible. Even at 10 or 11 in the evening, familys from different parts of the world were in the lobby or going up and down in the elevators. When I was staying there, the hotel didn't have a executive lounge. Now, they have a new tower and have a executive lounge.

My man CC once again beats me to the reply button!  LOL

Yep - stayed there back in 2013 (IIRC), and am actually looking at staying there again in February.

I never had an issue bringing girls back.  I was never charged a joinder fee and had 2 separate threesome while there....hmmmm...maybe THAT'S why I'm eager to get back!  LOL

never felt "embarrassed" about bringing girls back, but -- admittedly -- I was rolling in with them pretty late.  I also never felt that the girls at the front desk "looked down" on me for doing it.  Quite the contrary, they were VERY friendly to me throughout my trip.

Along those lines, the staff at the Holiday Inn (like the Marriott) was among the friendliest that I have encountered.  While I was at Holiday Inn, I stupidly split my head open getting onto a baht bus (slammed my head into the support bracket that holds the rail to the ceiling) and had to get 16 stitches.  The Holiday Inn staff went out of their way to make sure I was okay during the remainder of my trip -- set up rides for free with their car service for follow-up Dr visits, brought me fresh fruit with get well cards, and virtually every person who worked there would ask how I was recovering when I walked through the lobby.

The ONLY downside to the Holiday Inn is that it is at one of the far ends of the Beach Road/Second Road "loop."  Not a big problem, but I had a couple of baht bus drivers who felt that taking me all the way down Second Road from Walking Street was far enough for my 10 baht, and they didn't want to continue back to Beach Road...even though that was CLEARLY on their "route."  I walked the last few blocks once or twice and paid an extra 10 baht (30 cents) to be taken around the corner a couple of other times.

I'm now Platinum (think i was then, but not certain), but I am not familiar with the new tower or the executive lounge -- gonna do some digging to check it out now!

I've been burning other "free nights" on my last few trips to Pattaya (Hilton, Sheraton, Marriott), so I haven't been back.  Plus, it was a HUGE disappointment to me when they bumped the required points for a stay -- I think it went from 15,000 per night (an absurd bargain) to 25,000 (almost better off paying for it at that rate).

To anyone else U.S.-based that is considering the Pattaya Holiday Inn, I would suggest you look into the IHG Reward card from Chase.  You get Platinum status (so apparently free breakfast in the lounge now and supposedly an upgraded room), no foreign transaction fees, 60,000 IHG point (after hitting minimum spend -- which equates to 2 free ngihts), a 10% rebate on reward night redemptions and a free night certificate every year.

I stayed at the Executive Tower on my last 2 trips ,it is definitely more suited to a single guy than the main building...it is also more exclusive and the pool is less crowded

Thanks for the info, sorry I will miss you there since you will be there a month earlier than me. Nice war wound on the head, well at least you didnt have to pay for a tattoo and will always have something to show for your trip, lol

Did you book a room in the Executive Tower or were you upgraded upon check in?

Looking at IHG website, it's quite a bit extra to book a room there (like Hilton-level prices, if you go with a refundable rate), and rooms booked on points state that they are in the Bay Tower.

I called IHG to ask, but the guy who answered was completely clueless.

For your info I stayed at the Holiday Inn in November 2014 in the Executive wing on top floor level 25. I had bg meet me at airport on took her with me hen I checked in and not a problem. No extra fee, except that I did book for two, but that was no different in price than booking just for myself.

There is no problem with taking a different girl back each night, and no charge, you just have to register her ID at the desk.

Executive building, which is at back of the one on Beach Rd, has great pool, fairly private. The Executive Club on level 25 has happy hour each night no problem taking girl there either just have to dress reasonably well.

There was never an issue with girl and an fee.

I was told when i booked with my points that because I was a platinum member I was being upgraded to a suite and have access to the  executive lounge. Im not sure what the Holiday Inn executive lounge includes but if its anything like the other IHG property Crowne Plazas, then beer, wine, liquor with appetizers are free in afternoons, breakfast free in mornings.

TexasDago -

I think from your post above that you are coming here in March, so i wanted to check back in and give you an update.

My Cathay flights got a fucked up, so I emailed the hotel in advance to let them know that I was going to be late.  I also took that opportunity to ask about an upgrade to the Executive Tower, since I am IHG Platinum.  Got a quick reply, with confirmation that I would be upgraded to the Executive Tower.

I booked 7 of my nights with IHG points and paid a non-refundable rate for 3 nights (originally booked refundable rate, then went back and canceled and snagged a non-refundable rate at a much lower price about a week before my trip when I knew for certain I was coming).  the free nights and the prepaid room nights were all booked in the Bay Tower.  As far as I could see, that is the only option when booking on IHG points, so that was a big reason why I wanted to ask in advance about the upgrade.  I would recommend that you shoot them an email "inquiring" about an upgrade, given your Platinum status (include your IHG #)

The room is very nice, but not a huge difference from my recollection of the Bay Tower rooms (which were also great).  The "perk" -- as mentioned by Mickjv -- is the lounge access.  Like Mickjv, I was assigned to a room on the 25th floor, so the lounge is a short walk down the hallway (only 6 rooms on this floor).  They have an EXCELLENT free breakfast everyday -- it's a mini-buffet, with a couple of different hot items that vary from day-to-day (always American style bacon, along with a variety of breads and pastries), but they also will cook to order eggs and/or pancakes.  I have staggered down there everyday, and have had an omelette a couple of times, and other times just the buffet items.  The omelette was what I would expect from a decent hotel restaurant.  No complaints whatsoever from me.  At "free," you're never going to beat the price  -- I don't know if tipping is appropriate, but the girls who work there are incredibly attentive, so I have been leaving 40 or 50 baht a day, especially if I have an omelette prepared.

They also have Happy Hour in the Executive lounge at 6 p.m. with more free food set out.  One night, they had little grilled cheese sandwiches (like 1 inch square) that were REALLY freakin' good; they had jalapeno poppers last night that were very good; usually have a few dessert options (again, little 1 inch square pieces); the little chicken salad finger sandwiches were also very tasty.  I guess I'm part CC/part LDOP, because I'm shaking off money like it's going out of style on Walking Street, but enjoying every opportunity I have here to snag free food!  55555555

Not really any issues on bringing a girl back.  No joinder fee, but the girl has to check in at the desk and you have to sign the form, too.  that doesn't bug me, but I do NOT like the way they give her I.D. back.  Maybe I'm an idiot, but I always walk the girl down to get her a taxi, so i go with them to get their I.D. back.  At the Hilton, for example, it is at the security desk on the first floor.  At the Executive Tower, you have to walk around to what appears to be a loading dock, where a security guy sits at a desk.  I don't understand why his desk can't just be in the corner of the lobby, but maybe that's their "family hotel" thing kicking in.

I have only had one girl back -- to clarify, the SAME girl back all but one night -- and they have treated her very nicely (as far as I can tell).  She hasn't expressed any issues with the process to get the I.D. back; that was a personal complaint from me.

i should add that she has not been around during happy hour or for breakfast in the morning, so I don't know if you can bring a TG as a guest to breakfast in the Executive Lounge.  I have not seen anyone else do so, but it has been fairly empty every day.

Sorry for rambling on -- suffice to say that my stay here has been GREAT, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has Platinum status with IHG!
