Seven Zea Chic Hotel Vs Page 10 Hotel

Does anybody have any feedback on the Seven Zea Chic Hotel vs Page 10?

 

I'm planning a trip in early April and these two looked pretty good to me.  Mainly I just want to know about bringing guest back and service.  I'm leaning towards the Seven Zea because of the way their pool looks and the sea view room.

Two weeks or so ago I went off down Beach Road on a searcg for this Sven Zea Chic Hotel having also seen the swishy website which suggests its virtually on the sea front with glamorous infinity pools and literally presenting a lovely ocean view. and modern chic style The reality is quite different as the building is a long way back from the road, separated by a large scruffy building site, and is nowhere near the beach front. It also looks incredibly dull and grey from the outside and is along the soi inland. The only advert of its presence on Beach Rd is a sign stuck on the cluttered post at the corner pointing up the soi.

I also walked up the soi into the small lobby and went to go to the roof terrace via the lift to check the real view but was stopped at reception where two Thai people generally were sat doing very little. A conversation ensued mainly in Thai ' 'where you go?' .. I go to the roof... do you stay here? no.. 'ok who do you come to see' .. no one, I just want to see the hotel view... ' you cannot' .. why not? ' 'you cannot unless you stay here'

 

Ok so good security but I then explained I wanted to see the view as I had seen the website and wanted to stay at the hotel. ' You cannot' .. why?  ' not allowed'  why? ' because not'   So could one of them come with me and show me the hotel ( as they had little else to do' ' no, cannot' . Can they show me any room ' no, cannot'

 

I then said well how can I decide if I want to stay here then if I cannot see. ' and the customer service answer was.... (wait for it ) ' many hotel, if you not like you can go there' and returned to chatting amongst themselves

 

This fits a lot of very poor reviews I have read about this hotel which suggest that customers are treated as an inconvenience at best, . I doubt the view from that distant roof top matches the website either...

 

Ok this all based on external observation only and no chance to view but pretty poor impression overall and they clearly don;t care if they get business or not from the desk staff's attitude.

 

In contrast Page 10 looks a lot smarter and only downside is they missed my business as they didn't answer 3 emails sent one after another asking for reservation info in October land November last year.
