Good price with emirates for time of year.

I normally book my flights for july in the new year, but after browsing skyscanner i saw some great priced flights, and i booked early and opted for travelbag and got an emirates flight for £496 departing on the 14th july from manchester.

Considering the time of year (UK holiday time)i think its a really good price,i am going and coming back midweek though so this may have an affect on the price.

I`ve payed lots more than this in the past(2-3 hundred pounds more) and can only put it down to booking earlier and travelling midweek,i realise airlines have a number of tickets at certain prices then it goes up.Im expecting to see prices for the same flight be 6-8 hundred pounds in the new year.

Booking early seems to be the trick, only reason i havent done it before is cos i didnt get my holidays from work confirmed, had them confirmed already so chocks away.

Isn't this the same Ghosty that told me I wouldn't get a decent Business fare for under £2000? ;-)

I ended up paying £1852 direct with EVA for the end of June.

To the OP: there doesn't really seem to be any 'best time' to get a cheaper fare. It varies from airline to airline, and month by month.

The best plan is to decide which airlines you're happy with, and what is usually a good fare, then just book it when you see it.

Ok it is with air China which I have had mixed reviews on

But for that time of year I had to get it

Lots of cheap options in Economy between the UK and BKK. I wish I could still take advantage. Can't even manage the 3 hour drive to LHR now without stopping at least once and topping up the painkillers! I just wouldn't survive 12+ hours in cattle class. It was always a struggle anyway due to being tall & well-built :-)

I booked BCN to BKK business with Emirates for £1300 depart in 14 Jan, well worth looking at taking a quick hop to BCN & avoiding the crazy UK airport taxes, with the BCN Emirates flight leaving at around 3pm it works really well

oh bugger, I've had a dose of what you describe and it is hell. I prolapsed a disc a long time ago and its taken me a long time to find a 'cure'.

Been trying to strengthen it over the last few years with the right exercises, but I do it with trepidation and fear!

You make no mention of :-

Aircraft type

Layover times

Never ever will i fly again with Emirates or Etihad on 777-300ER 10 abreast in Economy. Even at £496 in July !

From Manchester if you can get a reasonable price then go with Qatar or Emirates A380

This is just my experience of flying from Manchester to Bangkok over the last 15 years.

I was gently pulling your leg :-)

Hoping to get to Pattaya next Xmas as well as June so will be looking for flights from February. If I see direct under 2k I'll grab it with both hands!

Yes. L5 ruptured and every time I lift something I hold my breath. Bloody arthritis in spine doesn't help.

I am a bit wary of carrying my Tramadol with me this time. Will gave to get letter from GP as well as prescription I think. Buggers will charge for letter though!

I do not know about the price level of tickets right from your place, but a week ago I read an article that for the year 2015 is expected to cheaper fares, particularly for long-haul flights, on average, $ 100. Article stated that it is due to the fall of oil prices.

Layover times are good, about two and half hours outbound and slightly less for the return...or was it the other way round :).Anyway i shouldnt be hanging around a long time.Regarding aircraft type im not sure, maybe the A380 0r maybe not.I`ve flown with Emirates numerous times in the past and havent had any major issues.I`ve flown with Qatar and etihad and both have been fine, but im not a fussy flier. You can fly first class with any particular airline but if theres major delays or glitches your memories wont be good ones.

It's a decent price. I usually go from Glasgow and get similar. Flying midweek definitely helps.

Sounds good, I am sure you have looked into all this and have it sorted, but for those that are thinking about it.

Adds at least 6hrs onto your journey time each way, you are still paying Uk airport taxes on your flight to and from UK(all be it small) + Spanish Airport taxes.

Also problems occur if you are thinking of using your business class luggage allowance, suitcase and golf clubs for instance. Dont know where in Uk you are from,

But the cheapest option was Ryanair out of Stanstead @ £36 return hand luggage only. Once add ons are included, used golf clubs and case as an example comes in at £156.

You will also be unlikely to be able to check your luggage straight through to Bangkok, meaning you will probably have to go through immigration at Barcelona collect

luggage at carousel and the go to check in for your business class flight. It is more than likely that this will have to be done on the return flight also.

You will also lose out on the option of the Emirates chauffeur sevice at this end, meaning that you will have to get too and from your chosen Uk airport off your own back, car, taxi, lift, bus, train whatever, at a cost and a bit of time to youself. Also you may park your car at the airport this is an added cost that chauffeur service would cut out.

The Emirates flight time from Barcelona to Dubai is not all that different as London to Dubai, so there is not any great advantage there.

For me, I am looking for a business class experience, so putting myself through the potential of 6hrs of hell that would be the Ryanair, Easyjet ultra economy "experience" at the beginning and end of a journey would ruin it for me.

I worked it out for me and there is a saving of about £150 over my Emirates London flights @ £1850, better savings can be made depending on whereabouts you fly from and what you are taking with you. But it is definately an option.

An added thought, upon your return, low cost budget airlines are not at all sympathetic should your inbound flight be delayed and you miss a connection.
