Traveling the World

Has anyone traveled or is thinking about or planing to travel non stop for a number of months or years?

That's pretty much all I think about these days, and will probably end up making the leap of faith in the next year or two.

Articles like this really get the blood pumping, and inspire you to get up and say fuck it to the rat race.

Let me know if anyone here is thinking about it, or is keen on the idea.

My brother and his mate have just started their round the world trip in an Auto villa starting from South Africa

They scrimped and saved for 3 three years and are now on their way, as well as doing some charity work along the way. They also have a few articles on planning your trip.

Here's their website

I did a 6 month tour of Thailand and Cambodia. One day I just decided "fuck it, I want to travel" so I moved back to my parents' place, handed in my 3 months' notice at work and saved all the money I could before I went. I had a blast and don't regret it even a little. Getting a new job after getting back isn't as easy as I had thought it would be, but it'll sort itself out somehow.

Did that in my early 20's.

And ofcourse thank god for parents! What you gonna do? Rent a flat to put your stuff while you're travelling for 8 months? Nothing wrong with dropping your stuff at mom's place and maybe stay a month or two when you return while finding a new place!

I've done that for a few months. After about a week it starts to feel normal and I found it quite enjoyable and liberating. Being separated from most of your physical junk and seeing new vistas daily gets your thoughts out of familiar paths and lets you think more creatively about a lot of things. Listening to instructional or motivational tapes on areas of one's life one would like to evaluate or improve upon helps even more.

Yeah I think about it a lot to and have been setting up passive income and income from working online....I don;t want to wait for retirement! I think A good way to do it is to spend about a month in each place....this allows time to enjoy the location [whilst getting some work done] and also allows savings by booking stuff for a month like apartment, and motorcycle.

This version of me will not stay the same, tomorrow I will be different.

Thanks for the replies.

Luckily I have few possessions to begin with, so job's half done. I'll set fire to the rest if it means freedom.
