Yes, and I have been thinking of ways she could unload that task of waking up many times in the middle of the night to alert a driver, because I believe it cannot do her night rest a lot of good. Anyone knows of an app that can be programmed to do these calls?

i know she started doing this be cause a few very rare occasions where a driver missed her own alarm and a pick up in the middle of the night was missed, creating a storm of complaints on this thread. one bad piece of feedback can do huge damage to a reputation that took years to build up.

But missing out on sleep is very unhealthy, and I’d like to think there maybe a better solution….

 

as a side issue, Nam reported a good upturn in  customer numbers, an increase in people wanting her services over the past month. But she found also an increase of last minute bookings. No bookings are unwelcome, but a plea to her customers:

”if you know long in advance that you will need a cab to or from the airport, linked to a flight that You may have booked many days or weeks ago, please try and book your ride at the time your flight gets confirmed.”

each day, early to mid afternoon,Nam starts allocating drivers to requested rides, a process that by now takes many hours, keeping in mind that drivers like a two way pay load, a ride from Pattaya to the airport followed by a ride back with a passenger who just flew in.  Fitting in last minute bookings gets in the way of a smooth allocation of drivers.  No request for a driver will be turned down, but you can make her life a lot easier if you book at least a couple of days before your requested date, if at all possible.

And  a heartfelt thank you from the drivers, who are really happy that after a  very tough two years they have an opportunity to earn an income and can support their families again!

I have met quite a few of them over the years, many of these women are single parents, needing to support a few children, Covid19 has been a nightmare for most of them due to the drastic drop in tourists, while they still had the outgoings of car loans and family needs. There is hope on the horizon now, they are all looking forward to a better year ahead….

Well I used her service and can say overall it was good, the pick up on the way back staying at vt6 the driver rang to say she be 5 minutes late cos she had to use the toilet 555

Twilio and MessageBird are the two platforms I can think of that would work the best for that sort of thing internationally. The others I'm familiar with are all very US/EU-centric.

My last trip was 2018 and always used Mr T without major problems but the vehicles were always a bit random (one time a minibus) I have booked for a Nov trip and need a taxi can you really recommend for an advance booking?

I thought I would do a short review for Nam, from my trip last month. I've used Nam for all my trips except the first one. I was a late booker for this trip to the airport. I waited until I got my covid test results to get back into the USA.

Passed the test and sent e-mail booking for the next day trip. About a hour later I get a e-mail with a picture of the girl driving me and a picture of the car. That's new from the before covid times.

Pick up was 4am at Areca Lodge. The driver was there, waiting on me. The car was a Toyota Altis or something like that. Basically a Toyota Corolla in the U.S. and clean as a whistle. They have a option for sedan S which is 1000 baht and a sedan L which is 1200 baht. Medium size luggage you go with S and Large luggage, go with L. This is also new from before covid times. I went with S.

We loaded up and was on our way. She confirmed I was going to the Airport and told me about 90 minutes for the trip. I said I was going to sleep a little and she said she had pillows behind me. On the shelf, behind the back seat, she had 3 different pillows. I grabbed one and was out in a few minutes. I wake up about 20 mins. from the airport.

I asked if she had a rider going back and she did have a pick up at noon. A long wait, but i'm sure they have some kind of routine for that. We get to the airport and JAL doesn't have their name on any drop off signs, so I tell her drop me in the middle.

I gather my luggage, the driver scans the backseat in case I left something and sure enough I left my Areca receipt and paperwork in the back seat. I pay her 1000 baht and 200 baht tip for a no drama, hassle free trip.  Oddly enough she waited until I was in the airport before she pulled away. Another excellent Nam trip in the books.

I highly recommend Nam Taxi and will continue to be a repeat customer.

I used Nam's for a pickup 2 days ago from Suv-Pattaya. Sadly Yuri has gone back to the village due to tough times but Miss Noina was waiting outside Gate 3 for me in a nice clean Mitsubishi as I walked out. Cute as a button and drove very carefully through several violent rainstorms. She hastened to add that she is married with two children and has worked for Nam for three years. English is only so so but certainly deserved her 300bht tip. Another first class experience with Nam's taxis for me.

Had Noina on her first drive three years ago.  There was another driver then to show her her the ropes.

And again, arrival 24May.  VG driver.  Also is Nam's younger sister.

Have used Nams taxi all this trip pickup bangkock to pattaya hotel then hotel to dm aiport for udon thani pick up from dm after chiang mai return to pats and booked to take to airport hotel on return to uk all good so far most booked on line app comes back with pic of car and driver and time pickup and cost.

When you say Gate 3 do you mean at arrivals or departures?  Sounds a dumb question, but earlier this month on a return from Ubon, the driver picked us up at gate 3 departures, he said he wasn't allowed to pick up at arrivals? My usual on arrival from UK is gate 3 arrivals then walk to the car park.

I have always been met by Nam's drivers at the meeting point inside the terminal.  Is that not possible any more?

It can get crowded there, particularly if the driver does not know precisely when you will be ready. 

I asked Nam to give me the driver's tel number, and I called the driver when I got to the Gate. The driver was with me in under a minute.

That was almost certainly her sister, Nam, likes to keep an eye on new recruits....

Noina had been driving for years, but only got her license to start driving a taxi. I understand Nam had been driving since age 17, but only got her license many years after...
Currently, she is getting her younger sister (20) to get her driving license.....

On a different note, hey guys, if you know your flight date and your departure time, can you please book a few days at least before you plan to need your taxi?
Late bookings are complicating driver allocation and planning, if you know anyway, early booking makes her life a lot easier...

But the good thing is, Chanya, Nam's admin assistance, is back in action. She was out of action for a few days, flying to UK to take her daughter to meet daughters father, now arrived safely, got over jet lag, and back in action...
Takes a load off Nam and the system is working again like before....

As I have written before, if you have any good OR bad experiences, please feed them back to Nam directly by email, or here on this thread. She needs any feedback, even negative, to be able to improve her service....

Apparently not. I think you need to walk outside and she will be either waiting or driving in a circuit, so keep an eye out for her car.

Or when you land send her or Nam a message on LINE.
