Running in the morning

Now that winter has come to the mid west the days have become shorter and the nights have become longer. I usually run at around 5 pm but now it's pitch black out by that time. I've decided to switch my time to about 6-630 am.  Anyone have tips on running in the morning? Also is it true running in the morning is better for you?

The air is fresher and you can hear the birds singing.

They are all fucked and in the nest by the afternoon.

See what you have been missing all these years  :)

Can't beat a bit of early morning rimming.

My Pattaya budget is perfectly adequate as long as I don't spend any of it

Running in the am on an empty stomach is good if your trying to drop body fat from what I have read. Personally, I am useless as tits on a bull in the morning when it comes to running and lifting, but if you can do it you also benefit from the fact that your test is at its highest in the am.

Running early in the morning is best to loose fat. The reason being that your bodies reserves have been depleted over night and you are in a mini state of hunger therefor you burn straight fat as opposed to the carbs you ate through the day and than the fat.

In order to have some energy int he morning drink a bottle of water and a black coffee with a half Apple this will give you a bit of energy.

After working out or running in the morning will give you a bolt of energy for the rest of the day. If you can manage to get up and get into the groove the first 2 weeks it will become routine and very helpful.

Maybe it's just me but I find that working out makes me tired.

So if I work out in the morning, I get all foggy brained and exhausted at least early part of the day.

That's why I find it easier to fall asleep after getting in a good cardio session at night.

I hear you on that one, it's does exert alot of energy depending on the cardio. But if your tired the rest of the day you should up your veggies. Every morning and through the day I have 3 servings of veggie. I find this helps tremendously when training. The lack of vitamins is what contributes to fatigue since your body is exerting energy as you workout and perform cardio. If you replenish the nutrients with an ample dose of veggies you will see a noticeable difference in energy through the day. It's takes about 2-3 weeks untill you start feeling the affects of ample veggie consumption. This does not mean eat a salad, this means eat alot more than that. <~~~~ just my opinion and two cents.

It all depends on the individual. Start off with a small run and see how it goes.

I have done a lot of running over the years (ran a few marathons). I tried running in the morning for my second marathon, and it fucked me up.

I felt really tired during my run (only 7 miles).

I could do the same run in the evening and it would be easy.

Due to temperature and humidity I do my runs in the early morning while in Pattaya. It works great for me with empty stomach, but I can recommend to put 10 gramm BCAA in your water bottle to give your muscles something to work with. If you extend your runs over 90 minutes add also some Arginin. Try small doses first but you can increase to about 6 gramm. It can cause Herpes, that's why you should test it.

i will be staying by the dolphin roundabout in Naklua in March.  Wondering what the approximate distance in miles is it from the roundabout to the beginning of Walking Street.? Thank you

No. Herpes is a virus which is passed through physical contact. Amino acids don't cause.

However, in the 1960-1980s there was research that indicated that the ratio of lysine/arginine had an effect on viral outbreak (ie, becoming symptomatic as the virus us always with you once you contract it). The theory was that increased lysine provided an anti-viral effect whilst increased arginine provided an increase in viral replication.

However, in 2011 this theory was emphatically retracted by the Journal of Virology based on new research.

Perhaps it has an effect on viral loads. Perhaps not. But it doesn't cause or increase/decrease one's susceptibility to contract the virus in the first place.

I would say that wouldn't be half way but I am going from Naklua and along Beach Rd going along Second Rd would be shorter but not much

I run in the mornings. Used to run in the evenings but sometimes I'd talk myself out of going for a run as the day went on. So I switched to mornings. Took a bit of getting used to but I love it now. Really sets me up for the day.

The best thing is there's less traffic on the roads.

I know that it's 1.75 miles from the Thai Airways office at the beach front by Dolphin roundabout to the start of Beach Road as I often run it a few times and measured the distance on a hand held GPS

Did anyone try to run around the lakes on the darkside? My usual round along the beach road, through Walking Street and up the lighthouse road is a bit boring. Not to forget the dogs at the harbor that always scare the shit out of me. Looking for alternative rounds of 10-20 km.

Not very far at all, only about 200 yards . The Thai Airways office is exactly where the road joins the sea front.

This morning I was running around the lake. With small navigation errors it was 12,4 km, mainly on the side strip of roads without too much traffic. Unfortunately in the villages groups of dogs again. If you want to do the round, run clockwise so traffic approaches from the front.
