I live in New York, NY USA so I always fly out of JFK. Your flights do not have to be expensive, you just need to take a week and look around, believe me it pays off. Last flight was with Japan Airlines (Nov 07") Cost was a few dollars over $1,000. This time I am flying with Cathay Pacific (Feb 08') cost of $834.

I orginally booked with Thaiair because they fly difect from JFK to BKK, but at a cost of $1332. I then started really looking and found Cathay Pacific was running a special so cancled Thaiair flight and decided that the extra $500 was not work the 2 hour layover and extra 1 1/2 hour flight time.

PS for those who fly often, UPGRADE UPGRADE UPGRADE. Arrive a little early at the airport and ask about upgrading your flight (REMEMBER to be on their mile program). Last flight, Japan airlines, I upgraded my flight for $150 one way. Probally one of the best purchases I have ever made for $150.

This time it is United all the way through to Bangkok from Fort Lauderdale. $1043.

Absolutely no logic to the cost of flights. EVA were top dog when I flew in 2006, now not so much.

I fly Northworst from the SE USA to Thailand 2 or 3 times per year. About $1200 RT. Horrible service, but an addictive frequent flyer program.

EVA

non stop from heathrow depart march 8th return 29th £455 via emerald-global

return can be altered if you decide to extend the stay and agents were really helpful.

Not sure if the air fares quoted here are inclusive of taxes and fees. It would be helpful if they are.

My RT fare from the Southeast USA to Bangkok of about $1200 is inclusive of all fares and fees, and was for a 6 month trip. NWA applies a surcharge for flights where the return is more than one month after the departure. Not sure why they do this.

Flew United for many years to Thailand...finally got smart and switched to JAL (Japan Airlines) last year. I am now treated nice...actually really nice from the people who work for JAL instead of being treated like a piece of s*** from the people who work for United. Price actually about the same...more upgrades on United than JAL, lounges WAY better on JAL than United, very few flight delays on JAL vrs many many on United over the years. The United Mileage Plus program is excellent, the JAL frequent flier program is only so-so until you become a Global Club member (50K miles per year) and then it is about as good as United. Any questions about JAL or United PM me. samuijim
