I just booked with best travel store, from east coast US 2 stops to bkk 1146.00$ USD

I also fly from the East Coast, so also two stops for me in IAD then NRT. Direct from United's web site is $1,117 tax and all included. I have used BTS in the past, but now I mainly stick with kayak.com and United.com.

Is there a time of year that is cheaper than others or are flights roughly the same price all year round?

It sometimes depends on how much in advance you book. I booked from Newcastle to bkk with emirates direct online the price in early october for January travel was £479, but by the time i booked early November i paid £525 which is still a good price and cheaper than any agent even on the net!

Gosh how times cahnge along with prices.

I flew DFW to BKK via Northwest 23 hrs in economy for $940. Now it's $1150worst yet!!

In a few mponths the lowest price is 1350. American is the highest, with their exorbitant tax system of 375 dollars.

But oh... No price is too high for the smiles you recieve and give :P

EVA air from seattle $905.00 r/t (this is the lowest amount i have paid and i got it through a travel agent. forget expedia and such. all of my travels, i have always been able to find lower airfare either through an agency, or through the airlines themselves

Flew November 1st, 2007 LAX to Bangkok Thaiair for $1,537.00 U.S. dollars. It was Premium Economy class, non-stop and I booked it only three days before i flew.

I tried to fly earlier but international rules require the three day cushion before you fly. I mean c'mon its not like I'm buying a hand gun!

Food was fine, service was great and i love those Thai girls.

In 2006 I flew from Dubai to Bangkok heres what Expedia did to me.

Expedia SUCKS and have left me hanging when i changed Itinerays . No customer service. Never responded to my complaints and told me i should of known.

Expedia changed my flight for me to Jap Air and that at the time required papertickets. The change of tickets was one day before i flew out. I wasn't told my E-ticket was now a hard ticket requiring 5 days for advance time for it to be mailed or go to the Jap air office in the Airport that were closed for two days for the holiday of the King.

In my experience book your flights with the Airlines especially if you book with short notice for better prices. I think flying Premium Economy with a non-stop from LAX to Bangkok 3 days before i fly for $1537.00 is excellent.

Remember U.S. citizens, Carriers out of America usually don't give free liquor if you fly coach over sea's. They use to but not really anymore.

International carriers seem to have the free liquor.[/size] [

Oribitz is pretty surprisingly good, though I can't figure out why you only-sometimes find much better rates there if you choose a specific time versus a range of timeframes that cover the same time of day as your prior search; at other times trying this trick, you are just wasting time.

Used to use Expedia and Travelocity the most, but Orbitz is much more useful and better at finding the best fares from the largest flyers to the region, though I still keep comparing all 3.

But in terms of WHICH AIRLINE; the answer is "it constantly changes". Shoipping each trip always seems to reveal a different carrier, which makes it really tough to build up flyer miles! But for some reason, I can rarely go with the same carrier twice in a row for price and shortest/time-convenience reasons, and I am one that LOVES to search heavily to be sure I haven't missed a posted fare somewhere.

In this day of customer internet booking, there just isn't a compelling reason to go with a brick-and-mortar travel agent.

Thai Air- JFK to BKK

Premium Econ

$1500

More expensive than it needs to be, but the the direct flight, 17hrs only and arrival at 4:30PM local time is worth it to me.

What fraction of "the pattaya experience", cost is airfare?

If airfare is $ 1500, how many pennies should a person save to have a good 2 week trip?

Flying Emirates GLA-BKK in Feb return in Mar for UK £526.00 all in. Pretty darn good seeing as QF, BA, etc are all in the 650-700 range all ex-LHR!

Good question, my budget so far:

Airline tix: $1500

Mr Toom Taxi to Pats: 1200Bht I think

Expected hotel costs (Pats and BKK): $550 or so (9 nights, a short trip sadly)

In my opinion Korean air is the best; great service, every seat has a movie screen where you control what you watch and the flight attendants are absolutely BEAUTIFUL and friendly. I always book the very last aisle seat at the back of the plane. This allows me to stand up and stretch my legs behind my seat and watch the movie.

2006 Korean air $1045.

2007 United $1160.

Trip scheduled for March, I paid an extra $75.00 to book on Korean air over United because of the service, landing times and flight times were very similiar.
