Interesting to see how does this story ends. I would say that only 50% change for "happy ending" and another 50% for some mysterious accident. Let's hope all the best though as very few of farangs really have made any attempt to try to protect their "rights".

This is guy has really got Guts to take on Police & Mafia with his language (Fuck, Fuck, Fuck), most thai cops don't understand English nor they don't have any clue how to approach this situation with him. He can't bullshit in US or UK nor in any western country the way he is behaving inside police station. He is really a nice guy, fond of feeding animals daily.

.. I don't know when the film in AndyFTH's post above (#9) was made, but my guess is that the countdown has started.

 

.. this guy has been here long enough to know that going open public confrontation has a zero chance of success here .. even if Sharky has relationships above the local police level who have protected him, they now have no chance to cover him .. can't do it even if they wanted, irrespective of money.

 

.. blame it on 'roid rage, maybe .. but, Sharky must know better than this .. raised to this level, bribery is no longer on the table as a solution to his claims .. and, the notorious Thai Rule of Law as a solution is a laugh .. his stirring international scandal, if it ever gets traction, might be but a flash and soon pass (Sharky does not make a very sympathetic victim).

 

.. who knows, but my guess is that this might:

• suddenly go very, very quiet; or,
• detonate sometime later in some quiet location away from public view; or,
• end in a judicious application of Thai law .. menial charges against him by the police (which would not need to be contrived), followed by a slap on the wrist and a quick, unceremonious deportation.

.. any long time ex-pats here see it going any other way?

 

.. hope this guy cools it, for his sake .. the local police will go as ugly as Sharky is willing to go, step for step.

I think he's becoming a bit of a Chopper Read. Not everything is true but a lot of the stories are based on truth and then rewritten to appeal to their audience. Chopper was pretty much feared but also plenty of tough guys out there wanting to get back at him too.

 

Chopper ended up living in Tasmania in a peaceful rural setting with his family and eventually succumbed to cancer if I'm not mistaken. Fancy having to live your 'golden years' in Tasmania, doesn't get much worse than that!

Never normally comment on Sharky.  Don't love him or hate him but I am inclined to believe that he really does think he was robbed by the cops.

 

This just goes to show that you should never have any large sums of money, gold or other valuable items there for the taking if his story is true.

 

You will never win against the police in Thailand.  Fuck, you'll find it very hard to beat the police anywhere in the world without video evidence.

 

Even with video evidence you can still lose.

 

anyway I think he will pop up again in maybe Cambodia or Myanmar next.

Love him or hate him, I have no doubt what he is saying is all true. He goes against the grain in Thai culture as we all know.

It's good he has the balls to stand up for what he believes in. One would think living there so long the rite cops would of been on the payroll anyway??    

 

Regardless it's their country not his, they will do as they please we all know that. His gold and money he will never see.He has more chance of being arrested for drugs again.

I have no doubt the police know the whereabouts of his gold and money but it was only a matter of time before someone did take it .they have had more than enough time to work out how to ,I mean the man is walking around advertising to the whole world how wealthy he is . In Thailand you flash it it means you don't want it because someone going to take it sooner or later . He won't get it back employing those tactics in fact he will make his situation worse ...it's time to move on if I was him
