Might get deleted to preserve the sanity of longer-standing or more streetwise BMs, but I'm relatively new and have only done one shortish trip to Pattaya...

Where's your fave place for Isaan food?

I'm travelling and don't have an income now, just savings, so am biased towards cheaper places, though I do spend more on a good meal here and there... however I don't eat from carts much cos I want my food cooked freshly. My BKK girl took me to a great cheap street kitchen place in Sathorn. Looking for stuff like that in Patts...

Love nam tok, som tum, omelettes, sticky rice and grilled pork... you know the score... point me to a good'un!

Discovered I prefer this stuff to curries and stir-fries - its more grilled, leafy and sour... I dig the fresh tastes and it's leaner

7/11 ....I normally get my Thai food from there and at about 35 baht a meal it is relatively cheap and also very hygienic..j

There is (or was) a little isaan restaurant on 2nd road, near to the shopping complex with Big C.

It used to be Subway sandwich shop.

On 3rd road next to The Road Machine motorcycle repair shop opposite "The Village" is a very popular (with the locals) Issarn eatery  :GoldenSmile1:

If you go buy from street vendors  its about 30/40bt for the meal only.

I would advice  you go to a breakfast buffet ( Leks) were you can fill your face for I think its 180tb it starts at about 0700hrs and ends at about 1200hrs you can stay during this time and fill your plate constantly.

You will be able to consume  all that your body will need to be healthy in one meal.

3rd Road, Soi across from where Xcyte Disco once stood, with the sign for Full Love Inn.

A few yards into the Soi, there is this no name place.

Great Isaan Food, and my personal favourite in town.

Funny, never liked that place very much. I'll have to give it another try.

I could write a whole book about the original poster's question, but it's so such a huge topic I don't even know where to start. The short answer is the Isaan food in Pattaya is more expensive than in Isaan, generally not as good, but widely available.

One of the best things for me is the walking around and discovering for myself new places.  In Pattaya there are so many different food places from the fancy restaurants to street carts, just keep walking until you find what you want, it never takes very long.  Easiest way to get authentic Issan food is to hook up with an Issan girl and ask her where she wants to go and eat, almost guaranteed to be OK.

Haha, I haven't been to Isaan yet so I've only got the Bangkok version to go on.... but I guess I've now got even more reason to head north-east

Thanks Vessey. I just thought 'surely this one must have been done loads of times and people will groan when they see it'. But, instead, a great response. Love this forum.
