im wondering what vaccines you make sure you have or are up to date before you head of to Los?    such as hepititas A and B, typhoid, mmr, japanese enecephalitis,flu shot, polio etc. I know some of these are standard when your young but im wondering which ones people fell they must have for there own piece of mind when they head to thailand?

^ most of the ones you mention , but best to check with your Doctor

If it floats, flies or fucks It's probably cheaper to rent ...

Yes check with your doctor.
If you stay in typical tourist areas of Thailand there should be little concern.
Your doctor will help you weigh the pros and cons and necessities of available vaccines.

IMO an up to date tetanus shot is a must.
For most a current flu shot is advisable.
Hepatitis A & B is a good idea, but remember B is a three step vaccine that is given over months.
Typhoid vaccine is also a good idea.

There are others to consider, but I will bet you that (by far) most travelers do not even contemplate vaccines and they all seem to make it home safe.

CDC is a good source for information.

As far as health concerns goes I think there are bigger fish to fry.

Diet & Food Safety is one and dealing with Climate Issues is another that are worthwhile to read up on.

I say Hyp-A and B  for darned sure. You just don't know when those germs will be around. You must live in a big city because they aren't given all over the country.  If at all possible get the tuberculouses shot, lot of kitchen help thin nothing of coughing on your food not to even think about the subcontinent visitors coughing all over a buffet.  I'd even think about the pneumonia shot and for sure the latest 3-type flu shot; the airplane is gonna give you the flu. Wash your hands a lot and dont get your hands near your face.

Does hypochondriac or germaphobe ring a bell?

What does "You must live in a big city because they aren't given all over the country" mean?

If  sneezing & coughing subcontinent people is a concern ... do stay home.

For heavens sake how paranoid can people be.

Hmmm...any reason you wouldn't just go to your doctor, share your travel plans and get whatever shots are recommended?

Some of the above suggestions are sound but others posted on this forum are less helpful, ie self-medicating with antibiotics to treat or prevent STD. No one with any medical knowledge and common sense would do that. Good luck and have a great trip. :)

Although vaccinations are advisable they`re not imperative,i`ve had them in the past but not had any for a few years now,common sense on things like hygene,eating habits,what you drink,and so forth will go along way to you having an unntroubled time.If you want them though by all means get them irrespective of what i`ve said.

depends what you are going to be doing , i have been going to thailand for about 14 years now basically stayed Bangkok , Pattaya and Samui , so only had the basics , Hep a , Tetenus , and have never had any problems and i think most people that stay around those areas are the same , but this time i am going to do a side trip 2weeks India and am doing the whole range , Thyphoid , Diptheria , Rabies , Japanese encephalitis ,

Thailand is a pretty clean land especially if you stay in the main tourist areas

"And were you pleased?" they asked Helen in Hell.

"Pleased?" answered she,when all Troy's towers fell;

And dead were Priam´s sons, and lost his throne?

And such a war was fought as none had known;

And even the Gods took part; and all because

Of me alone! Pleased?

I should say I was!"

My travel clinic recommended DTAP, Hep A, and Typhoid but I also requested Hep B (series of 3 jabs)
