Im looking at doing a bit of travelling on my next visit but the BKK to samui flights seem to be a lot more expensive than the other internal flights iv checked out (by about £80 one way).

So im wondering if its cheaper to buy flights when I get there or not.

Need to get straight off the plane in bangkok, then on the samui flight to make a full moon party so theres no way around it.

So what would you lads do?

Any advise much appreciated thanks

Book it now , if you are using Bangkok Air or Thai from Swampy the flights won't get any cheaper , the other Airlines that fly from DM go to Surathani so aren't as convient

If it floats, flies or fucks It's probably cheaper to rent ...

agree with above... it would be about £30 each way if you could fly from DM to surat thani then get the boat across. but if your in a rush the £80 fare you found from bkk is about right

I work hard to support those on benefits! :Banghead2:

Samui flights are more expensive  as Bangkok Air have a bit of a monopoly there. they only allow 1 OR 2 thai air flights I believe as they own the airport. the rest of the flights are there own. nobody like NOK or the other budgets airlines get a look in ..

Have a look at if u-tapo ( pattaya) airport is any cheaper but don't think it is but that is the route I used previously. but swampy wasn't built then with a massive road bringing you in so going back to DM was a bit of a trek.. Swampy is so close now doesn't matter if you fly from U-tapo or Swampy

Think the only way to get cheaper is the really early flights or late

Bangkok Air do own the airport in Samui and restrict the number of alternative flights by high airport fees, I once saw a report of Thai Air complaining that it cost them as much to land a 160ish seat Boeing 737 plane in Samui as it does a 747 jumbo in Bangkok!

As earlier indicated the very early flights in the day and the latest flights in the evening are usually the cheapest, also their flights generally get more expensive nearer to the date of travel so earlier booking is usually best for Bangkok Airways!

Flights are cheaper generally, the further in advance you book them.

Waiting until the last minute to book them means you pay the highest prices

think its agreed that i book as early as possible on line
