Nong Khai is a beautiful countryside , hope you will enjoy the time there. Completely different from Pattaya life .

Really enjoyed Nong Khai last trip, but spending 3 weeks there I would not do. What do you do those three weeks?

Unless you have friends/GF living there who you are going to visit, I think you'll find 3 weeks a tad too long in NK. It's a very nice town and there are good views of Mekhong river & Lao, plus some nice riverside restaurants but it won't take long to see and do everything NK has to offer.

 

Anyway if you do get bored you can pop across the river to Vientiane, or head down to Udon Thani.

I go there every now and again for a night with some mates and do some bar hopping. Not much of a bar scene with girls there.

Good for fishing golfing and walking .

Great little town , a good night club to I here .

Had a great time in Nong Khai , nice restaurants, few bars and nice place to chill. Have a stay over in Vientienne via the friendship bridge for a couple of days, catch some Laos culture.

I am now in Udon Thani and going to Nong Khai tomorrow. Never been there. Probably gonna stay 2-3days.

 

Any suggestions where to stay? Some guesthouse with wifi and aircon about 400-600baht per night would be nice.

I was just there last night. Stayed at the white inn. It was ok. Good wifi and clean and decent breakfast for an extra 100 baht.

It's in the middle of a small string of bars but not at all noisy.

I've stayed right by the river before and that was nice too.

White inn is 700 though. There are plenty of cheaper ones on Agoda and booking.

White inn is a good hotel good location but no swiming pool

Not sure what the name of the hotel was, but it was next to the river near to the market. 500 baht a night with this view (in the rain):
