Inspired by a recommendation on the Pattaya Restaurants Facebook group, I decided to give Pizza Italy a try.  It was a good choice.  I've had two pasta meals there and look forward to trying more of the dishes on offer.

Pizza Italy is located on a subsoi of Soi Bukhao between Soi 15 and Soi Diana.  The restaurant isn't visible from Soi Bukhao.

The chef is a very friendly Italian guy who really knows his stuff. The restaurant has a wood-burning oven for pizza and other dishes.

My first meal consisted of a bowl of rigatoni. It was freshly made, not precooked and warmed up in a microwave.

It wasn't a huge portion. but rigatoni is a heavy dish and the portion was large enough to fill me up. It tasted great, subtly seasoned but full of flavor.  It  cost 230 baht.

For my next meal at Pizza Italy I had a tomato and onion salad followed by lasagne. Unlike a lot of tomatoes in Thailand, the ones in my salad had been properly ripened.  The assortment of condiments, which included olive oil, was a nice touch.

post-9139-0-14806700-1413706393.jpg

The salad cost a modest 60 baht.

post-9139-0-42966000-1413706399.jpg

The onion had been sliced paper thin and placed as the bottom layer in the bowl, which meant the diner could choose how much onion he wanted to eat with the tomatoes.

The tomato salad was a good starter for the lasagne, which had also be freshly prepared.

Again, the seasoning was subtle, with just the right hint of nutmeg. I definitely knew it was there, but it didn't overpower the dish as a whole.

post-9139-0-93990900-1413706412.jpg

The cost was 220 baht.

Pizza Italy has a full range of Italian dishes. It also offers pizza for delivery and take-away.

Both times I  ate there, I was the only customer, which is a shame.  Let's hope that's just a function of low season and rainy evenings.

Bottom line:  Pizza Italy is a good option for hearty Italian food at reasonable prices in a casual setting. Recommended.

Looks good but location means zero viabilty and foot fall. Worrying that the usual few crusty old Italians haven't even found the place.

Needs word of mouth to survive, hope your review helps.

have eaten at this restaurant a few times... really LOVE the pizza... have had pasta (a basic type with just tomato sauce - penne arrabiata -  and liked that a lot too... had a pasta fajioli soup and liked the taste but it wasn't thick enough for my liking/not enough stuff in it (not as good as what I had a few years ago in a small, Mom/Pop Italian restaurant in New Jersey - that was a VERY high bar to compare to)... overall, it is my goTO place for pizza (thin crust, wood oven style)... want to try other items on their menu - like the lasagne, etc...

Retired in Pattaya, Thailand - arrived April 1, 2014... Ohhhhh yeahhhhhh... LiveN my dream!

I found the place through his business card at the sauna I use and the nights I have been there he has been busy with the Italian crowd, which US a good indication if the quality food. He also has a brand new guest house above and does monthly rates@ 14k. Also an Italiano hotel across the Soi, Iam not sure if he is involved in that venture.

I stayed in the lk apartments last January.

I ate here a few nights.

Its a great place and super food.

The location is not great. I'm not sure if it will survive.

It was quiet every time I came here .

I ate there last month...I agree, the pizza is good and the Italian boss is very friendly ! He gave me directions on my 1st day to get to my Irovers room nearby. And they have real expresso coffee too ! Quiet place indeed and not many customers, I will go back for sure ! 10639554_10152375129488691_9016401993432681761_n.jpg

I love their pizzas as well! The seafood pasta didn't looked too bad. Have to try that one day!

I go for the pizza at Pizza Italy about twice a week when in town. My only complaint last winter was the service was a bit spotty at times. Lack of English skills mostly.

There is also an Italian restaurant, in another out of the way location, down the next soi north off Soi Buakhao (motorcycle shop on the corner) that is quite good and often very busy. The place gives you a free shot of Sambuca after the meal. Sorry if this is a thread phuck.

The other place is down this way.

I and my LT TGF ate their 3 times in December 2014 and have to say we had pizza on all 3 occasions and thought the food was extremely good. Many thanks Evil for bringing it to my attention and the forum.

Had a pizza for lunch back in November it was very good.
It's cooked on direct so you have to wait for 10 minutes worth the wait it was yummy :)

Earing italian when eating a pizza always makes it taste better haha

Oh by the way, @Nixon, great background for your photos :)
