Ozo Hotel (next to Pattaya Bay Resort) - be careful!

I've been a regular guest at the Pattaya Bay Resort since it first opened and especially during its glory days under Dr Kim.  Since Kim sold up, I've still been staying there as it feels like home, and I've gradually got to like the new boss and although most of the best (cutest) staff have left, a few remain.

I've stuck by it even during the lengthy construction of the Ozo hotel right next to it, and the just started condo construction at the back.  During the Ozo construction I always took a back room and had very little bad noise, and now I take a front room to avoid the noise at the rear.

So on my visit last week my room directly faced the new Ozo hotel.  Ozo are offering a discount rate at the moment and while the hotel sucks from the outside, the rooms, pool and amenities look cool on the website.  Once the prices revert to normal it will probably be over-priced (no balconies) but at the current rate it might be worth a try.

However, if you do stay there be warned that at night, with the room lights on and the curtains closed, you are still totally visible to anyone looking across from the PBR.  And I mean totally visible.  I saw a full frontal male guest preening himself in his room (I drew my own curtains before I became a complete peeping Tom) and then two rather attractive girls "getting ready" for their night out.  I wasn't spying (honestly) but when it's that close and that in your face it was difficult to avoid!

So if you're an exhibitionist, take a rear facing room at the Ozo and entertain the perverts in the PBR!

That new building that was being constructed beside the PBR is a separate hotel called the Ozo?? I had understood it was a new wing of the PBR. Even if it were a new wing, it's ridiculously close to the PBR. All the more amazing it's a separate hotel. Made me wonder about planning codes, minimum separation distances and the like, in Pattaya. Whether they exist and if they are applied ....... Then I remember how everyone says things operate .....

So much for the blackout curtains it states are in their rooms, maybe someone ought to tell them, not that it would do much good!

They are separately run but are "sister" hotels (whatever that means).  PBR is due to close next year for a complete refurbishment and when it re-opens it might be upgraded to match Ozo.

Meet Dr Kim quite a few times many years ago when I use to stay there. Is he still in Pattaya?

Yes he is; I often run into him in WS gogos!  He rents out condos http://www.pattayabaycondos.com/Pages/default.aspx

and is a BM here.

pbr is a very good hotel

but ozo is very very close to the pbr. Many customers of pbr dont like this.also there is a construction at the backside.

if pbr management wants to see their glory days again, they must do something.

for example : they can make a good promotion for their old customers.

From my conversations with the Manager, they don't really want their "old customers", and will be targeting a more affluent group and discouraging sex tourists, once they re-open after the refurbishment (probably in 2016).

Here it is on the left opposite the front of PBR.  Not much space between them.

Also it's a bit of a messy view on the Avenue Mall side, but the actual entrance is opposite the Areca.

so goodbye to pbr... :SoWhat1:

I had heard that the current owners of pbr were trying to sell it. Dr Kim had declined buying it back, but a few other parties had visited - one being a Japanese group.

on another forum i christened this place CVN 68 as it's pattaya's first Nimitz class hotel. the ugly plain side and lack of balconies can be explained as sooner or later they will build something else on the piece of land between it and the back of the avenue shopping centre so no point in making it look nice.

the entrance as mentioned above is on the end of the hotel where it fronts onto soi 15

delving into the my book ext drive i've found a couple of pics......

The opening offer of 1100 baht per night looks good but if you add taxes and breakfasts then you are paying over 1700 for a room with no balcony. Better VFM available else where in Pattaya.

950 batt plus taxes without breakfast

and it is guest friendly 500 batt for exrra person .

looks good i think i ll give it a try

it's not a bad location.

walk to the buakoaw end of soi 15 and it's 10 bht to the junction of pattaya tai/second rd for walking st on a baht bus.

coming back along second rd another 10 bht and get off just before the mcdonalds at the avenue and walk through.

and almost opposite the hotel entrance there is a little soi that takes you to the middle of soi diana and the LK Metro bars and gogos.

Maybe I'm over cautious, but I don't walk down the little soi by the 7/11 to soi Diana at night.

Very good location and some nice promos lately, but no balconies is a big turn off  :SoWhat1:

I never had a problem using that side soi. At night there's always been a security guard sitting at the booth for the parking entry to the condos(?) behind the 7-11.

All that ever happened was an ancient lady who hung out behind New Orn Bar that liked to yell 'farang!' at me every time I passed.

I hope she wasn't trying to proposition me.  :68:

That said, I've always maintained heightened awareness when walking there because it DOES get dark in the middle where the angle is and it's possible someone could be hiding behind the corrugated siding on the west side waiting to spring out.
