Hotels in Chiang Mai

Can anyone recommend a place to stay in Chiang Mai? Preferably around 800 baht per night, close to downtown area, and not too far from some gogos/beerbars?

I was in Chiang Mai at the beginning of this month. We stayed at the Montri hotel. Its just inside the Thapae Gate of the old city. The main bar area is only about 5 mins walk away. It was about 800b a night, and while the rooms were not very modern they were perfectly acceptable and comfortable. Girl friendly too ;)

Top North is centrally located..Girl friendly--Pool--Nice restaurant--Easy walk to anything of interest..Priced right at under 800 baht..Charlie the Thai owner has been my friend 5 years and He will treat you right~~~

I can recommend the Parasol Inn - www.parasolinn.com. It is right downtown and has very reasonable prices.

I would 2nd The Montri not 5 star but decent enough hotel, location is about as good as it gets for what you want, girl friendly and the restaurants not bad either with computers/internet in the restaurant 30 minutes free if you buy something.

Always stayed at the Prince till last trip. The Top North hotel ( not the guesthouse) is perfectly set up to the action. Excellent location! Pool water is brought in from the Artic. Cold! Had a big room, 1000baht, included a decent breakfast. Quiet, no street noise. Staying there again in Jan 09.

Planning a 3 day trip to Chiang mai in october. Travelling alone so a girl friendly hotel near to where the action is would be good. Will check out the above hotels, cheers boys!

Loi Kroh road is pretty much Bar Street. Can`t help with the location of those hotels but I had a great stay in the Star hotel last week where a very good superior room was 1050 baht. Its a 2 minute walk from the night market and maybe 100 yards from Loi Kroh, they gave me breakfast coupons for 2 people as well as soon as I checked in ( on my own )

sawadee.com had superior for 1050 and deluxe 1400 this month. You can negotiate if you walk in though and theyre quite friendly. They have limited parking and the lady I was with who stayed with me at the previous hotel took me there and they let her leave her car overnight.

Raming Lodge was excellent value, can't remember web address but right in the middle of mongering bars. Also very quiet as it is back from the main road.

Raming Lodge has got to be one of the best places to stay if not the cheapest. Location is near perfect, rooms and service are very good and if you stay in a deluxe you get a FREE daily mini bar.

For a quality hotel it was nice that they treated extra guests well and my lady enjoyed the breakfast with nobody looking down their noses at her.

Royal lanna. Good hotel in the corner of Loi Kroh and the night bazzar. I see price 985 baths.

How u doin everybody if your lookin for a cheap but nice hotel in chiang mai check out the MITRAPAP hotel it is also girl friendly no bother what so ever but all rooms are twin but fuck it its only about 300THB a night and right beside the night baazar check out hostelthailand.com for details you won't be disappointed

If u got a little extra budget for 1400 bath u got a nice room, swimming pool with jacuzzi, a good 2 person breakfast in the www.raminglodge.com it looks like a 5 star hotel but it is right on the partyscene in Loy Krohroad and guestfriendly as well with good reviews on differrent websites!

A good Thai friend showed this place where he stays all the time. It's mostly a place where Thai stay with a few falang.

 

The rooms are clean, bath en suite, safe, wifi, TV, friendly staff, girl friendly. The rooms aren't huge, but you aren't going knock your head.

As I recall the rooms were around 500/night, maybe less - I just don't recall exactly, but was the best deal I found anywhere.

 

It's located about halfway between the east gate (forgot name) of the walled section and the river. Just 3 blocks from the walled area and close to the night market where a lot of the clubs are. also plenty of massage places close by.

 

There was an excellent grocery/bakery store just down the street to the left with the most sinful pastries you can imagine.

 

Excellent value. Can't recommend it enough.

One more endorsement for the Raming Lodge - really nice rooms at a fair price, and great location on Loi Kroh road no more than 2 blocks from the Taphae Gate, and guest friendly. I love the place.

I'd like to recommend SRIPOOM HOUSE,family run,big clean room ,wifi,girl friendly,short stumble from spicy(which seems to have died a bit lately-maybe it was the overwhelming smell of urine when you walked into the place),about 450/day. i recommend this place because they seemed like good people who help me out when i needed it and it is good place stay. www.sriphumhouse.com
