Jomtien Rompho Market

Was there in May in front of the covered fruit market

I expect the stall is still there, very tasty.

Really? Never saw it there. Just checking, you do know this is about the Burmese soup of Northern Thailand?

BTW, S & P chain sells it.

There is a newish place called Rung Restaurant in Soi Chaiyapruk Jomtien

I had Lanna Khao Soy chicken and pork with spicy sauce. I thought the Khao Soy was very good although this was the first time I had it so I don't know how authentic it was and how compares with others. Not so widely available In Pattaya AFAIK.

Total bin for two dishes and two soft drinks 120 THB (2.90 EUR) so the cost is similar to street food carts.

Would have to taste it. The broth looks as expected. I have never seen it with such a large portion of the crispy noodles on top.

Thanks for the suggestions. Think I'll try the Rung restaurant in the next day or so. I should mention that the Hilton lunch buffet has it on Thursdays including the side condiments that you would get in Chiang Mai. It's a smaller serving but you can go back for more if you like. Must say it's an expensive way of getting a khao soy fix.

Any other suggestions for proper sit down restaurants to try? No problem with street carts except so hit and miss to find at times.

Any S and P restaurant has it.

For example at Tukcom.

Never tried it there though.

Number 11 on the menu.

Also I remember it being sold at the luxury food court at Pattaya beach mall but not sure if anymore.

That's on about the 4th floor, not the cheap one on the ground floor.

A couple years ago I had it in Cabbages and Condoms restaurant over on the other side of Pratamak Hill.

I first discovered it in Chiang Mai also and absolutely love it!

Now if I can find a place that serves a good one in Sydney I would be very happy!

Kreggerz thanks for the S&P suggestion. Tried the khao soy yesterday and thought it was great even came with the side condiments. Whole menu looked like nice variety.

Reuan Khao Poon on 3rd Road.

Except this place, S&P, Cabbage and condoms where a Kao Soy can be found ?

I love this dish as well but it's not a common to find as it's northern style cuisine not Issan or standard...

I always ask in Thai the dish to food carts but i have always "may aow" with a smile... it's not cooked by everybody :(

Krua Meuang Neu on 3rd Road.

Lanna cuisine, only a Thai menu, and normally sell out at lunch time.

Thanks for the address, can you be more accurate about how we can find this place ? is it the small market food with a lot of food carts before the intersection for Jomtien/WS ?

Thanks again.

My favourite thing to eat in Thailand and great to know there's a chance of getting it in Pattaya.

I came, I saw, I mongered!
