Google maps always shows MRT / BTS stations in thai, help !?

Hey guys,

google maps is driving me nuts currently, I wanna checkout some destinations in bkk and can't change the language properly. Some streets and places are shown

in thai and english but the MRT/BTS stations always keep being in thai only. Doesn't matter how many times or to what I change the language. Any advice?

thanks in advance

maybe a glitch in googles database then. possible that the translation not turned on for specific location types

ping them an email

i think there is a contact email address for the google maps api content

or scan google maps forum

I had a look yesterday and another guy complained about exactly the same problem to google many times over a 1 year period, they didn't even answer on that matter..

For me.. You have to zoom in really close to see the English names.

oh that's kind of annoying but you hit it, it works ! I probably never used the max. zoom before, thanks a lot about that !!  :ThumbUp6:

Yeah it's annoying, I've tried loads of things to fix this but it seems zooming is the only way. The kicker is it used to display English all the time before some backend update at Google.

Unfortunately this is also on my Android Phone as well.

The only solution is to download an offline mapping app (or online I suppose) that uses OpenStreetMaps as the database.

same happens for me searching from Australia...you would think Google could customize it according to the country of usage's language. In any case it has helped me become more familiar with BKK and I can find nana station just by the map features!

This version of me will not stay the same, tomorrow I will be different.

Yeah it used to be perfect, an update is not always an upgrade I suppose..

At least they should do it properly in English, I guess that's the most common tourist language in Thailand. Haha, at least something positive came out for ya there

Yes, Google is becoming more and more annoying, they refuse to listen to customers on a number of topics:

- annoying chrome omnibox where it is not possible to turn off the autocomplete/search assistant

- language of the search engine (you have to create an account and login to change the language)

- absence of the simple feature to share a link to a spot on maps v3 (I still use maps v2 for that)

...

Google is on the way down IMO

I think the information is supplied by the BTS/MRT folk ... the labels to the BTS/MRT icons are in Thai.  Maybe there wasn't an option to input the data in two languages.
