Prickly Heat Powder

As somebody who is very prone to sweating a lot even in "normal" European summers, going to Pattaya in September is going to be a challenge. While browsing the internet, I saw recommendations for Prickly Heat Powder (I found it on Amazon, too: http://www.amazon.com/Prickly-Powder-Snake-Brand-Classic/dp/B001JPH44K) which is supposed to limit the sweating and provide some cooling. It's supposed to be common in Thailand and supposed to be working quite well. However I can not find it mentioned on this forum (albeit several topics on how best to dress in the heat), so I was wondering whether this is not that common and not many people are actually aware of it, or whether it has any downsides I should be aware of?

You can get it on every streetcorner for a few Bht . Many Thais use it , i found it to dry out my skin .

Well, this kinda makes sense if it is against sweat :-)

Sold everywhere... I get mine at Tesco/Lotus.  Works good to both cool (camphor) and "medicate" sweaty areas.  Keeps the jock itch gone...

As others have said it can be easily found in Pattaya.  I use it daily when there and have found no problems, it works wells.

Get the red can of "snake powder" like in the picture above, 29 bt for the small can lasted me two trips and I use it every time i go out. Walk outside and you'll feel the heat waves from the sky going battle with the menthol and releasing cool vibes in your shirt.

Without I can soak a shirt in a block, with i can make it to an air con bar mostly dry.
