Russian sanctions

Today I read, that Russia is seriously considering the introduction of penalties in the form of disabling flight over their teritory of Siberia.

This restriction should adversely effect the particular flight to Asia with many airlines.

It seems, that getting into the beloved Thailand will become increasingly difficult.

Maybe just a tad more expensive to compensate for the fuel. :-)  Could just head south a little and fly through middle east (for the Europeans). :-)

Most flights from London to Bangkok fly south of Russian airspace so shouldn't be a problem. But more difficult for Finns though!

BA flights to Beijing/Shanghai and Japan would fly over Russian airspace.

 

Flights to Thailand usually don't from the UK.

There have been various reports in press etc today about Russia retaliating for EU sanctions by closing it's airspace to airlines from certain countries. The reports said that this would mean airlines having to fly further, use more fuel and therefore probably put fares up.

 

They mentioned destinations in Asia without being specific. From the UK, it would affect flights to China, Japan etc but not Thailand.

 

Don't worry, it won't change anything for you flying from Oz to TLOS - unless you have a Malaysian pilot :-)

I am sure a direct flight from London goes over the Med, Middle East,Emirates, Arabian Sea....and what seems like a week over India

It's best not to watch the flight progress on the screen on the way back. Already depressed as leaving TLOS, feel like you've been flying forever and it still shows the plane over bloody India!

Flying to USA from Russia is over the pole, only TO europe do they need to enter european airspace.

 

would love to see other countries disabling ruskies from entering ( LOS would be great)
